I can't believe I did this guys....my son just got a 07 FJ cruiser and I wanted to show him how to change his oil and I couldn't fit under the front of the car so I entered under the drivers door. I wasn't paying attention and drained the friggin transmission oil. I can't believe I did this as I'm broke as can be. I do my 4Runner all the time....just rushed it and blew it guys. I'm freaking out. I put bolt back on and all the fluid is out. Now what do I do? 07 FJ cruiser with 55 thousand miles. Please help me out.

I've got a 2005 4Runner that I've done a full exchange on.
Not sure exactly how similar the TRanny's are, but if they are the same, then all you drained was the oil from the filter pan (thing, I forget what it's called).
Rest assured your transmission is not ruined, if it's like the 4th gen 4runners.
It's a little bit of work to get some fluid back in, but not much more complicated then an oil change.
I'm going to go through some book marks I've got on this and post some links for you.

Once again, all this is leaning on my assumption that the tranny in the 4th gen 4runner and the 2007 FJ are the same.
If you are able to measure the amount of fluid you removed, just be sure to add that much back in and you shouldn't have to worry about doing the fluid check procedure.
Also, you'll need a simple fluid pump to get the fluid into the refill hole.

Thank you so much I'm on the way to the dealer now which is open for 45 more minutes guess I got to go make a fool of myself again. and to answer your question yes I drained all of the stuff only from the pan deal u mentioned cannot believe I did this and I have the amount of oil there so I will keep that in mind.

If the transmission doesn't have a dip stick to check the fluid level. That is the procedure for FJ, RUNNER, TACOMAS.
Edit... Hint, they sold you WS fluid and that's the right stuff for this procedure.

This is a 07 2wheel FJ and there is no dip-stick. I'm going to read up on this and not attempt tonight. Gosh, his mother is looking for info to ruin me and man, this would do just that. She's the one who bought him the car with 55,000 miles on it. So I'm praying I get this right. I feel like a fool for doing this to his new car. Thanks y'all for helping me out and keeping my head from exploding in fear....ha!
This form literally walked me through 5100 shocks, FJ coils swap and I've never done anything mechanical in my life. Pray for me guys....and any other links that could help me I would be forever grateful.
The one thing that I'm nervous about is the temp deal. I have no way to make sure the temp is perfect for correct fill. Even though I have the exact amount I drained is this very criticle? I'll measure fluid and post in the morning. Now for the dabate...this should be interesting.

You'll be ok. Just watch the procedure.
Hints also... make sure the FJ is level or close to it. If you just drained the pan,( it usually drains +/- 3 quarts) mine usually just under 3 qts.
After you fill the trans. follow the procedures and have a laptop with you do guide you. Run it in the mode it tells you. If it doesn't do the flashing requirements after the shifting part. Just turn the motor off and start over. And do this when it is still a cold motor.
When it does go into temp mode and the light comes on to check then, don't take to long, temp can come up quick depending on ambient outside temp.

Edit... If non comes out in check mode, plug it up and turn off motor and add some more and do it again.

^ This. If nothing else you just did a drain and refill on his rig. Probably cost you 40 bucks in WS, but you're fine. Something you both should learn how to do anyway, hahah.

My son did the exact same thing with my 2007 SR5. Before I came back to check on him all the tranny fluid in the pan was gone! :fish:
My fault really for not paying attention. I did not risk driving it, so had it towed, (wife works for AAA) and they topped off the tranny fluid, no harm, no foul!

This method worked great. I couldnt get the temp set the first two times, I let it rest for 45 minutes and tightened up the wire for the ports and it immediately went to solid light...Drained out just a bit to slow poor almost drip and closed her up. Perfect!! Much thanks. Oh yeah, I just changed the oil as well. Happy times and learned another task. Thanks much guys.
