Takes about 1/2 to 1 mile of driving until the Nav allows the override to kick in. Until then, it assumes you are parked.

Hello all. Just installed the auxiliary video input dongle on my 2014 limited with jbl and nav. Also used the $16 amazon camera mentioned early in this thread. I am thrilled with the results. My tire carrier completely blocked my backup camera in the factory location (duh), and so i mounted the cheap amazon camera on the lower side below the spare tire. I have a clear open view, which is important considering out my rear view mirror all i see is the tire. I opted to not get the switching dongle to turn on all the time, but can add that down the road. Really appreciate this option as it was plug and play with the head unit! thats fantastic. A local audio install company quoted me $600 to relocate. I did this myself for $65. I do have wiring and stereo experience, but overall, really simple.

My dongle arrived in the mail Monday, but I've been out of town :ybrick: Hope to have some time on Saturday to complete..........and upload a few pics.

Yes, I did.
I unsoldered 2 LEDs and resoldered them to the same board and all went well.
I don't have to proper tools to hold the boards and my fingers are too fat for such small LEDs, but they did work!
So now I have a spare switch and some blue LEDs just in case.
I have a blue/blue on/off AOB switch on the way now.
I couldn't do anything with my camera mod because I had an appointment for the dealer to replace my HU under warranty today.
A few more days won't kill me! :becky:

Not hard at all really.
It was an old AOB switch I had that I practiced on, so no pics....
hmmmm, maybe it didn't happen!

When you install the dongle & maybe just some of where you connected your switch wiring and where you located your switch...
Nothing to outrageous!

Dongle installed
Unplug shifter illumination harness (driver side).
There are two plastic tabs that hold harness to shifter housing, one white, one black. Release both, this will allow harness to be pulled back giving you room to splice into green (+) and gray (-) wires.
Then protect with loom and route wires to AOB switch. Connection to green and gray wires were made just beyond black tab as indicated by red arrow.
Connect dongle wires to AOB on/off switch, protect with loom. Test for proper operation prior to reassembly
Back together and working slick as sh!t

You can also tap into the 22 pin harness under the center console. This supplies the illumination wires for the factory seat heaters that are not used for the majority of trucks. That is where I tapped into for mine. Thanks for the praise.
I have contacted a supplier and will be working on bringing in the switches to fit the factory cutouts. Keep checking my site for updates. They will be less expensive than AOB switches.

My install went off without any issues. Rear camera still works as normal.
Depress the AOB Rear camera switch when in any gear, camera comes on.
AOB Switch dims properly just as the other switches do.
So, I know it didn't happen unless you have pics, right [MENTION=81322]barryhiram[/MENTION]?
Wiring diagram and install pics.....
EDITED to reflect polarity when wiring switch so the Camera Indication on the AOB Switch is not lit when the AOB Switch is not depressed and rear camera is not in operation.
My install went off without any issues. Rear camera still works as normal.
