Plug and Play Rear Camera Override Dongle

so the switch i have is at a neutral (aka showing my GPS screen, or audio, or other on the stock screen) when in the center, and then if i push it towards the rear of my vehicle the rear camera should activate showing it on my stock screen and remain there until pushed back to the neutral position? and if i push it forward it will show the front cam in the same manner until returned to neutral?

You need one switch that will show the cameras on the screen. Think of this as a power button.

Then you have the toggle switch that came with the kit that will allow you to choose between the front or rear camera. Ask all the questions you need.

so i need an additional button to activate the camera switch?

is there a schematic for this somewhere i can follow? I already have the selector switch, but now i need a switch to power on the selector switch, right?

Ok, i'm in the middle of the install and I can't seem to find the RCA from the backup camera to plug into the new harness. Am I missing something?

I looked through the directions and well as all the pages on this thread.

I have the head unit taken out and the I found the plug that the back up camera rca is supposed to go into, but I can't find the RCA cable from the rear camera.

Please help....

There is no RCA connector on the factory rear camera so stop looking. I am trying to pull up your order so I can see what you ordered, contact me in a PM so I can see.

If you got the kit then all you need to do is connect the harness with the RCA cables and that is what turns the rear camera feed into the RCA wire. If you want to give me a call I can walk you through it.

Yes as long as the camera switch isn't triggered. If it's in the off position, then it will function as normal.

Correct it will still work as it should.

Finished the Install

First off, a big THANK YOU to [MENTION=129513]bjohnston115[/MENTION] for putting together this easy to install and use kit. It works great and I'm loving it.

I put the camera bypass switch to the right of my steering wheel and then put the 2 camera selector toggle in that small cubby under the radio that never gets used. Its tucked away in the back so it is out of sight which is nice.

I also added a front camera inside the front grill emblem like some other members have done on this thread. I think that's a great spot and it looks like it came that way from the factory.

OK, I have the camera for the front and I have a 2016 4runner, if I want to switch back and forth between the 2 cams while in drive which kit do I need? Then I need 2 AOB switches, one for power and one for fwd/back correct? Really wish I could do this with one toggle. Thanks!

Yes you will need two switches. One switch activates the camera feed and the other switch will toggle between front and rear camera.

Technically you could pull it off with one switch to switch from rear camera to front camera, but you'll only be able to SEE the video when the vehicle is in reverse. So if driving backwards while looking at your front camera is your thing, it could work.

You would be able to use one DPDT switch rather than two SPST switches. Not sure of any DPDT switches that fit the factory cutouts though.

Assuming you used a DPDT switch would that mean just one switch instead of two? Or still one separate one for power? I plan on modifying dash to accept otrattw switches.
