Plug and wire change

I have a 2001 4WD and it is in need of spark plug and wire change. By reading on the forum I found the type of plugs and wires, I went with NKG. I have now changed the plugs and wires and when it starts, very rough and loud knocking. This was not happening before. What have I done? I was trying to learn but probably should have taken it to the shop. Thanks.

Did your new plugs look identical in length to those you removed? I've seen people put in the wrong/longer plugs and beat the piston tops with them.... Bad day I pray this is not the case here. What part number on the plugs?

The part # NKG BKR5EKB-11. The plugs that I pulled out were Denso, but other than looking worn down look the same.

Is there I plug connection I am to follow. I thought I did. Back plug to back. Middle to middle and front to front.

Nice should be just fine then just wanted to make sure. sounds like you've got it covered.

Well, that got the start up fixed. But the idle is rough and now the check engine light is flashing. So I have messed up somewhere. Will get it codes checked to see what the issue is unless anyone has an idea what's up.

Let me say the information on this forum is awesome! stupid me. I had the 1, 3, 5 wires out of place. Fixed and now drives like a dream. I am pretty naive when it comes to auto repair and am wanting learn as much as possible. This forum has taught me a skill I will always have. Look forward to learning much more.

Glad to hear you got it fixed it, I was thinking maybe you didn't gap the plugs right or they didn't come gaped right

Remember, the difference is always three: 1-4, 2-5, 3-6.

Sorry I didn't see this sooner--I always post this when someone has trouble after a wire change. It's ALWAYS the routing or a vacuum line.
