Like I've mentioned in previous posts I drive like I"m driving ms daisy, I don't rush to a stop sign/light only to mash on the brakes, no those days are long gone.
I know what a class action suit is and the chances of winning might be slim but at least they'll get someone's attention and then maybe toyota will have a fix for the problem even if there's no check engine light.
Once again I reiterate that all driving conditions have been the same since I bought the truck when new in 2007, except maybe the implementation of ethanol into our gas but i can't imagine that having such a big affect, oh and let's not forget my monster truck tires!
Ron, I know SUVs aren't made for MPGs but when they suddenly drop after a few years of ownership it makes you wonder, wouldn't you? If I bought a corolla that's supposed to get 30MPG and only gets 20 would that be a stronger suit? Why would it, only because it's a 1.8 liter sedan ? The point is it's not living up to its claim, there's no CEL on to show that anything is wrong when clearly there is. Why am I so sure something's wrong? B/C your 13 Y.o. 3rd gen gets better mileage than my 4G ! It's not an apples to apples comparison (4g to 4g) but you get the point, an older generation vehicle gets better MPGs than a newer one.
In all seriousness $$ may or may not be a concern, maybe one can afford to keep driving it like this and maybe one can't but does that mean one should deal with it just because s/he can afford to? With our economy being on the rocks right now with a 10% unemployment rate and home values plummeting, shouldn't we be concerned that a vehicle we use everyday doesn't perform and is burning up dollars?
I'm not saying anyone hates me (nor do I care if you do), merely be mature in your posts and replies. Is one supposed to stop asking questions if s/he doesn't get the right answer? Was Rome built in a day? Advice from all is appreciated, thank you. Are you saying if 95% of vehicles perform as they are supposed to that means the owners over the other 5% are just supposed to deal with it right? Not sure if you're old enough to remember the Ford Exploders but that only affected a small percentage of owners, let them burn?
I've thought about this but no guarantees on buying a 2nd hand vehicle, no idea if it also has the same problems or even more problems.
Not saying I wanna find a lawyer, just exploring the possibilities. I'm sure you're happy with the mileage on your V8, probably better than what I get!
If I got those #s I'd be thrilled and wouldn't be having this silly discussion.
At first I was having doubts that I ever got this range but if you do the numbers, 23 gallon tank multiply that with 18.5 MPG AVG you get 425. Don't believe me?
Check out
2007 Toyota 4Runner SR5 4dr SUV 4.0L V6 5-speed Automatic Features and Specs , it says " Range in miles (cty/hwy): 368.0/483.0 mi. " I get less than the City Range (if i drove all city)
No joke GTR, Driving habits are mild at most. I remind myself I'm driving an SUV, not a WRX.
Maybe If I get a 5th gen & complain they'll come out with a 4 banger for the next gen? I'm all about consumer choice, that's why I'm trying to get some attn to this so maybe Toyota will do a recall or at least admit there's a problem somewhere.
Definitely flat front, no cuffs on the legs either.
