Poor quality/design of Toyota Accessories

I have a 2013 4Runner TE. Not sure if the TE part of that makes accessories less compatible, but I just purchased a few accessory parts from Toyota and they suck to be frank.

Cargo cover PT311-89100 - leaves a gap at the front and back. I understand that the front gap is to allow the rear seats to recline, but you'd think they'd have come-up with a way to fill the gap with a similar canvas material to the cover - poor design.

All weather floor mats PT908-8900-02 - not compatible with the existing floor mat hold-down clips. One hole per mat lines up with existing clip, one doesn't. Hole that does line-up is not big enough for existing clip to fit through. Vague instructions outline installation of clip for AW floor mat, but do not shot how to get the old clip out without damaging it (or ruining the molded carpet floor - another poor design.

Cargo organizer PT924-89100-20 - folds towards rear in down position, creates bump where there once was a flat surface - another poor design.

Trailer hitch receiver plug PT228-35960 - finally, one accessory out of the order that works...kept me from gashing my shins up installing the organizer.

Anyone else have similar problems or comments on the above?
I sure hope that the remote starter I ordered works better than the other accessories!

Is that the tonneau cover? I think the gap at the rear is because the interior of the hatch comes in. I know with mine when it's all closed up you can't see anything under it through any of the windows.

Think I remember reading somewhere on the forum that they changed the floor mat clips on the 2013s. Maybe the ones you got are for the 2010-2012 version of the clips. Return them and get Weathertechs or Huskyliners instead. You'll be glad you did.

You have the wrong part # for the 13's. You need PT908-89130-20, the mats changed from 2012 to 2013.

Just a heads up, my wife went to buy me OEM allweather floormats for my 2013, and we were told there is currently a stop sale on them due to a manufactuer defect. We were told this by two dealerships. They advised hopefully they will be available by mid january. They ordered ours and when we got home we realized like you that we had been given the prior type that didnt feature the locking connector.

I thought the cargo covers had the little flap with the plastic clips that clip on to the metal headrest posts like in the 4th Gens. I didn't realize they didn't.

As for the floor mats, from what I've seen from Toyota since the whole pedal fiasco... I'd have personally saved the money for some Weathertechs IMHO, this is a case of "we just don't make them as good as we used to..." and yes the mats did change between '12 & '13.

Agree! I had the Toyota 4Runner all weathers. The mats do not cover enough area IMO, so I got the Weathertech digital fits. Perfect fit and deep enough to hold mud/slush.

As do the Husky's and I think they are a little less expensive....be safe.

I always wondered what that flap with the clips was for in my 4th gen...thanks dude :wave:
