Poor Sirius reception

We have a 2007 Sport with the JBL Synthesis H/U. We have the Sirius activated, but the reception is terrible. It works good until you go under a over pass, near a tree, over the over pass, through a stop lights, pretty much anything that casts a shadow. I have had aftermarket XM in other vehicles and it almost never lost signal. any one else have this problem? Could it be a warranty issue?

I have an aftermarket, add on Sirius unit and have had no reception issues. I would definately take it back to the dealer to have them take a look at it. Sounds like a bad antenna.

is the antenna installed in a place where it has a direct view of the sky? They are not meant to be installed internally. I had the exact same problem as you and it turned out to be bc the guy at Best Buy was lazy and just put the antenna in where my AVIC was installed.

I have my Sirius antenna centered on the roof about 3" in from the top of the back hatch. Reception is great and I only loose signal if I am under a roof of anykind, which makes sense. Your problem sounds like poor location.

Toyota put my sirius antenna on the inside of the windshield behind the mirror it does all the cutouts you described its very annoying I hope i can get them to put one on the roof.

I have the a 07 Limited with the JBL and factory sirius. The antenna is mounted on the inside of the windshield next to the rear view mirror. I have never seen an antenna like it in any car other than mine. It does lose reception often. Please let me know what you find out.

I have 2 aftermarket systems, one in my pathfinder and one in my 4 runner. The antennae for the pathfinder is on the drivers side up front near the windshield....it has great reception.

The one for my 4 runner is the more common install back by the liftgate and center, reception is almost perfect. I live underneath a huge canopy of Oak trees and never have the slightest problem w/ reception, even sitting in my driveway covered w/ trees.

Those of you w/ the factory install might need to figure out a way to get the antennae out to the roof somewhere, must be a way to fix this somehow....maybe they will have to use the aftermarket style antennae if that were a possibility.
