okay so change of plans for me!! i will not be making it. reason is there is an event near christmas valley that i want to go to on memorial day weekend. i cant do both i dont have enough money to do both.

here is a link to this event and day. its private property and its 10 bucks per rig to wheel or you can watch for free. i really love that area and spend some summer time out there so im gonna have to pass this weekend and go memorial.

well we all made it back safe, although not all of us drove out as we came in... on LBJ failure on the trip... more on that later, but you guys all missed a good day of wheeling, we will have to do this again this summer when its dryer out. and even stock 3rd gens can run the black diamonds. two of us did it with out sliders, you just have to be careful and take your time(one of us had to get a little help from one of the winches and i just used more skinny pedal, but i have some rocker panel damage, nothing major). sliders and a locker and you can do it with ease. so yeah we had one LBJ, but were able to "bandage" it up and limp it back to the trail head for a waiting tow truck. we used a nice heavy duty ratchet strap to hold the LBJ in place and it work. they just babied it and took it super slow like 10mph on the logging roads back to the hwy. we were so lucky the way it happened, first of it was on a nice wide open, flat, almost level section of the trail, and he was going like 5mph when it popped, so no other damage was associated. we just jacked it up, and pulled the tire and slapped it all back together and they turned around headed back(it was two other T4Rs that joined us, father/son team). so for any of you guys who have pics of this or just the trip in general, post away, ill post some tomorrow but im just so exhausted im going to bed now...

Well here are my images from the runs today. We all had a great time despite the Lower Ball Joint Failure and some bumps and bruises. Many more people took pics and vids so I'm sure those will make it up over the next couple days. The Kid and I both ran stock (besides tires) and I was extremely surprised at how well these 4runners ran out of the box . Got to try out my factory rear locker for the first time all I have to say is WOW! Amazing what a difference it can make in situations. Now I'm convinced on the functionality of a lift and some rock sliders...those will certainly be my next purchases after my maintenance gets up to date. Can't wait for future trips with you guys! Enjoy.

Who knows of other trails in the area? I'm really interested in exploring Oregon since I just moved here and would like to see what else this place has to offer! :hungry:

Also, Once I figure out a date we will be having a wrenchin' day coming up! I have a list of things that need to be installed.

Front Bumper, Baja Roof Rack (maybe - I have it but I park in a garage right now for work and wont fit with the rack), Smittybilt XRC8 Comp Winch, BudBuilt Mid Skid plate.

Do you guys know if theres a pass that you can by for parking on the streets downtown and dont have to keep paying the meter? If I could do that I'd but the baja rack on in a second!

I am leaving MT tomorrow for Boise then Bend. not srue I will be around after my Bend weekend. just Portland area during the week before I head back to MT.

will have to catch a trip next time I get to town again.

They used to offer a pass, but that was removed a few years ago for downtown Portland. Some exceptions apply for certain Contractors etc, may be able to look into it. I used to just find the cheapest monthly parking even if it was 10 blocks away, and paid for it, normally paid for itself in the end, some are even large enough to get a 7'-6" rig into ;p.

Other trails are all over, some are like:
old barlows road (an old wagon trail by mountain hood, best done in summer due to snow -mild to easy for the most part great scenery)
Outside of Yamhill (which you can drive/run to TSF ;p)

and of course

Oregon 4x4 trails...

There is goat mountain out by sandy and boring... never been there but have heard about it...there are some places down south like down by Eugene and Corvalis... I would love to know more about other trails here in Or. too.

for those of you who went on this, and saw how useful a winch was/is i just found one on CL for a good price, its not a killer deal but a very good deal and its moble... Warn XD9000i on winch warn winch cradle -i know this should go in the classifieds but its in northwest salem area so it would only apply to us portland area guys...

Looks like yall got serious after I left, dang it. Whos white runner is that that thing is huge!! That thing barely fit under that cedar tree with out a rack! If it wasnt for my highlift and gas can I could have fit with my rack. Glad to see yall had fun. Wished I could have stayed but i needed to get back at a decent time and I wanted to take the wife out to the beach while we were down there. But I had fun while I was there and am def down to go again.

So Lee (the teal toyota) my dad, was telling me that some of you guys own bikes too. Not sure if he mentioned it or not but we are planning on going down to Dunefest 2011. I'll have my 4runner and quads there, and a few others will be there with their rigs and etc. Just tossing it out to those interested. It is all sand, so be prepared for that.

If interested shoot me a pm and i can provide more details on where we stay etc. Heck even if you come down for a day let me know =)

dude, i am the guy standing right behind him in the pic(wearing black) and i swore i was going over i was all like oh f**k great... but i think his speed and forward momentum kept him from flopping but it was so close, too close... someone had just flopped their rig there earlier in the morning before us, you could still smell gas and there was glass down by where i was standing and then a windshield up on the bank where the red pickup was... they tried taking the by-pass and well yeah didnt make it...
