I did get them out. I hired a guy to help me pull rebuild and install. we did it together in like 2 1/2 days … now need to hook up hoses, wires, sensors etc..
The guy I hired had a caravan full of tools. He had extensions like Charlie above… (more than I have, and longer lol) with a 600-800 ft lb impact wrench… I have been using my dewalt screwgun/impact… just not enough torque… .
Speaking of which I did get a a few tools, a 1/2 in torque wrench/ratchet that is 10 to 160 pound I believe. And it has Newtons. The only other tools that I purchased was ratcheting box end long handle, 10, 12, 14 one schnazzzy flex swivel stiff springs. Had a bolt like end that you could get in with a low profile open end if needed. Wanted to buy a long handle flex head ratchet, but went with a torque ratchet instead and not happy with the flex box end ratcheting. Heads to big and to much flexabilty. Wish they had to click down. Ask me if you wanna link to what by not buy
had some 3/8 and 1/2 drive ratchets with limited short and tall socket set, jack handle for breaker bar when needed… soft hammer and box end …otherwise I extended the handles on my 3/8 and half inch to make them 18 inches long with copper pipe… luckily had a pipe cutter set. Bent on to the ratchet handle like a blacksmith lol let,me see if I have those pics.
with the guy I was able to still replace timing belt and components, water pump, oil pump … scrub the crap out of the valve covers and oil pan. Took off oil pick up to clean. Ended up having to make a gasket when putting it back on. The first one I cut was perfect them I lost. It took me three or four more tries to cut it correct again.
So yeah, the used semi rebuilt motor is in… converter bolts and Bell housing bolts are attached. Couple crazy stories. I was hoping that this mobile mechanic knew more than I did which I’m sure he does but from reading this or these forums and watching Timmy the TM .
The first thing I caught,, he was taking off flex plate and I heard one of the spacers fall and I said I’m sure you know you gotta remember the orientation and put it back on the other motor the same way is it?
… he didn’t speak Much English… I speak very little Spanish so we had our difficulties communicating …
I went around to check and the one plate is still hanging on the motor. Wasn’t real happy about that. I tried to check everything a couple times before dropping it in but I definitely was feeling rushed to get in thinking he might leave before I get it bolted. THEN I SEE ONE OF the flex-plate bolts is a random 14mm bolt. I guess he couldn’t find the last painted one so he found… I did have to let him know that he could’ve left it all upAnd then to make matters worse after it’s already been installed I saw Timmy numbering each one of the flex plate bolts.
the worries start in…
I’m worried about is the fuel injectors I was reading today if there’s any debris near, in or about the spark plug holes, or the injector holes you should stop drop and clean thoroughly. Same with the plenum? I did hit it with the shop vac and hope that I got everything. Duct tape and smaller hose used. Should I use my old injectors. And send out the 99… OR use the 99s and send the 02s
Either way… winner . For now? a brief clean? Again one of the main goals is to get back on the road sooner … now im thinking i should Be extremely cautious at the least, take a breather and be thoughtful about what is my best approach for long term success?
Using My 2002 harness, got new belts, power steering, AC , alternator idler pulley. I want to rebuild one set of the injectors. Would you recommend me rebuilding or sending them out to be rebuilt? I am so not going to put anything aftermarket on a 3rd gen especially when I start charging to build these for my friends lol
Didn’t do anything to fix the hole on the broken part of the block. Put in a spacer and was able to grab a couple threads. Hope this doesn’t become an issue? Just concerned with four wheeling. I mean I know JB weld seems a little weird every time I say it, but could it work? in this scenario or application?
