Power antenna question

Is it possible to get a third generation (that's 1995 to 2002) Toyota 4Runner with leather interior but WITHOUT the power antenna? I hate the power antenna so much.

I know it can be replaced, but I wanna know if it was a factory model. According to Edmunds.com, the SR5 4Runner has an optional power antenna and optional leather interior. Could the you get the leather seats without the power antenna from the factory?

Nope.
Only base (Non- SR5) models came with mast antennas.
All SR5s had power diversity antennas.
Only Limiteds came with Leather seats (and power antennas).

Thank you! Looks like I shouldn't trust Edmunds.com then. They aren't really car people. Several sites said the masts were fixed but I never found any 4Runners with fixed mast antennas. Thanks for the help.

Take a breath - it's only an antenna ;)
I don't know what other options there are besides a toggle switch to keep it down...I personally am not amazed with a power one either, but I will wait for it to die/break and I will replace with fixed.
For the once a month I listen to the radio.

Actually, I cam across something interesting. According to the 1996 and 1997 owners manual, there was something called a manual antenna that you could push down. Anybody know something about that?

I've never seen a 3rd gen without the power antenna stock, and mine came with it and was a base model.

You could unplug the antenna or get a head unit that controls when it operates, though that doesn't really fix it...

Does anybody have any clue about what the "manual antenna" in the 1996 and 1997 owners manuel is then?

The manual isn't the gospel. They do contain some "generic toyota" info here and there. I've never seen a manually retractable antenna on a 4Runner. But every Corolla and Tercel had one at one point.

They are rare (not necessarily "desirable rare") . I used to install stereos and alarms in the late '90s, so I can vouch that they existed. Its hard to say what exactly dictated getting a fixed mast, I would guess the truck would have come with an AM/FM only radio too.

Simple fix. Just do what I did: park under a tree not knowing that the tree bent the antenna so when it tried to go down it broke the gear that pulls it up and down. Now I have an manual antenna.

I've seen a few SR8's that had leather in them and a few times I thought that they also had normal antennas which leads me to my next question.

Anybody have a picture of a 4Runner with a normal antenna?
