Power door locks

I'm relatively new to the forum, I've had a '97 SR5 4x4 for about a year now.
I can't figure out how the power locks work...they seem to have a mind of their own.

USUALLY the doors unlock automatically when i turn off the truck, sometimes they don't.
USUALLY, with the truck running, if I get out and close my door, the other doors unlock, sometimes they don't.

Is there a way to change these "default" lock settings?
Is there any specific rules that are followed by the ecu?

BTW, I did the Tacoma whip antenna mod this weekend and I'm very happy with the results!

Sounds as if you may have an aftermarket keyless entry/alarm in the truck. The doors unlocking with ignition off is a programmable feature of almost every aftermarket system. As for the doors unlocking with the ignition on..IIRC, The truck wont let you lock the drivers door with the key in the ignition, the other doors shouldnt unlock though. 4) 10mm bolts hold the knee bolster plate (plate under the steering wheel) Pull that down and look for loose wires going to a box that doesn't say "Toyota" on it :wink2:
