Debating a LED conversion...I feel like I'll miss the warmth of the yellowish lights! Sort of like when I changed all the lightbulbs in my apartment to those fluorescent bulbs...made me feel like I was in a factory and it was seriously affecting my attitude when I was at home...so I changed 'em all back haha
I think I'll probably just save for wheel/tire package over the next few months...need to stop spending money on this truck!

the most practical mod I did is a HID retrofit, hands down. Why? Because I actually use it every day, compare to LEDs, lifts, tires, CAI, etc

put a broadway rear view mirrow over stock, i use 400mm and its big and i see the whole back window, 300mm is fine, 360mm is fine, but the 400mm is damn big. gets rid of alot of blind spots. also cheap cost no more than 22 on ebay and some places.

we talking about mods here (modded tires) whicha are usually muds or similar. Do you go play in mud every day?

I have those and I agree completely! I just now added the hooks to hold them in place, that helps - getting the gas pedal stuck under the liner is a little scary.
This is an interesting idea! I'll have to look into it. Did you do the install yourself? I'm sure there's plenty of threads on here about it, i'll do some more digging.
I was actually thinking down in the center console immediately adjacent to the aux-in port. BUT - this is an interesting idea as well... On longer road trips it seems like I end up using about as many 12v power outlets as I bring along (I have a broken 3 outlet expander forever-stuck with 3m tape just to the right of my right knee.
I like the key reminder delete idea! I'm guessing there's threads on here about that as well. I'll do some digging!
Since I have the non-JBL stock system, I don't know how 'integrated' my iPod can be... .are you thinking of something specific?

Instead of putting a Maglite in that spot, I put a fire extinguisher. For light I keep an insanely modified Surefire 6P (850 lumens for 40 minutes on a rechargeable battery) in my glove box. I love lights...
Another thing I did is remove the factory roof rack crossbars and install a Thule Rack. Looks better, more versatile. Do a search here for Defiant Light Bar, and you'll see my post with pics of the rack.
My other modest practical mods-
-Scion stereo w/iPod dock connector
-Constant 12v power
-Husky liners all around
-Removed charcoal filter
-Homemade 3M Filtrete cabin air filter (easy to make, better quality and a hell of a lot cheaper than stock.)
-Replaced driver's side map light with a red bulb. Makes it easy to read directions, etc. at night without ruining night adapted vision.

I love this thread! I am all about these small/no $$$ mods that make mine unique and as it "should've been delivered".
I love my key dinger delete. I consider it very "safe" too because you can't lock the doors if the door is open and the key is in the ignition. For me there's less of a chance I'll lock the keys in the vehicle because I don't pull the key out to stop the dinger when I open the door. Prior to the mod I'd pull the keys and do something stupid:bash: like toss them in the compartment in front of the console etc.

1. Weathertech floor mats. Helps with snow, dirt, soda, chips, etc.
2. Upgrade the headlights to HIDs. You can see much better with HID's (low beams and fogs)
3. Upgrade the high beams to HIRs. Much brighter and "flash" able.
4. Rear driving lights installed (gets people with high beams to shut them off)
5. A shackle/tow hitch. Motivation to get people off your bumper and you can help pull other folks out of snow banks.
6. Higher lift/springs (e.g. spacer lift, FJC springs, etc.) for clearance
7. Larger tires when the time comes as they can help with curb/rim rash

I installed a Curt hitch on my rig in a parking lot at an apartment complex (pre-house), by myself, without a jack. I seem to remember driving one side of the rig up on a curb though. But DEFINITELY install it yourself. You'll need a torque wrench, some GLOVES (you WILL tear up your knuckles getting the old bolts off), some 6-point sockets (you're putting a bit of torque on the bolts and the original hook). Also, keep in mind that you'll have to fabricate a small plate as a relocation point for the factory wiring harness (it comes with a harness, but not hitch...!?!). the reason you'll need to relocate it is because the bracket is bent in a way that when you put the hitch on you can't plug in a trailer harness. I'm waiting for my brother's machine shop to finish the move (titanium plate just for fun!), but you can easily do this with a piece of 1/8 or 1/4 plate, some drill bits, etc... It doesn't have to look pretty since it's going on the underside of your rig and no one will ever see it. Hope that helps?
PS- in the meantime, you can simply remove the two bolts on the bracket for the harness and zip tie the holes instead of the bolts. when you need the harness, cut the zips, use it, then re-zip. Since it sounds like you don't use a trailer much, it really isn't much of a hassle until the bracket is made...
