I live in North Dakota near the prairies so I named this build the Prarie Runner. Let's hope it sticks!

Interior Upgrades

I read I could put the homelink console and the duel outlet in the center console using the stock wiring harness. Sure enough, they were there and I spent about 15 mins swapping out these parts.

Cleaning up the headlights

The 4runner has 196k miles and has spent many days in the sun. The headlights were pretty clouded. I decided to clean them up right away.

Pretty straight forward... I used 1500 up to 3000 grit sandpaper while wet sanding. I then used a polisher and cutting compound. After they were as clear as I could get them I applied a ceramic coating so they hopefully last a few years before I need to clean them again.

They look brand new when finished! I apologize I do not have many good images before!

South Dakota Trip

So technically I did not own the 4runner for this trip. Previously it was my dads I owned a rusty 3rd gen and he recently upgraded. I did not want to haul my teardrop camper 9 hours to SD so I borrowed his 4runner and decided to buy it while we were there actually.

The 4runner preformed great compared to my 3rd gen! (my 3rd gen was in rough shape). I enjoyed the power and the ride quality.

Anyway, enjoy some images of our trip.

New Brakes

Just got my 4runner back on the road, Stoptech front and rear rotors. New calipers in the front, and new pads all the way around.

I also had to replace the alternator

Bringing camper home

Hey everyone,

Brought my camper home this weekend and grabbed a few pictures of the 4runner hauling it.. also a bonus dog pic.

She saw a cow up close for the first time.

Auxilary Fuse Box

I found a link on Youtube where a guy builds an aux. fuse box and I was actually able to understand what he was saying.

So I tried my hand at building one and below you can see part of my process and the finished product. Not sure If I should find a way to cover the relays or not.

I like yellow, So I bought some yellow lexan, I made a couple of supports and bolted them right to the engine bay.

Figuring where to mount everything on my panel.

From here on out when I add an accessory I should just have to connect the accessory to the yellow wire and hook the switch for the accessory to the white wire. Right Now I only have ditch lights hooked to the aux fuse panel.

I installed another relay between the battery and the fuse box. The power into the relay is hooked to my accessories switch in the OEM fuse panel, this way the accessories only work when the key is on.

Ha I know right! I had the vehicle detailed and they didn't go under the hood, and also it's winter time here now!

Ditch Lights

I FINALLY got my ditch lights wired into my auxiliary fuse and relay panel and got a quick picture before going back to work.

Now I need to test the ditch lights and PIAA fog LEDs out in a blizzard.

Also pictured is my new color matched grill I found online for $212, I got two day shipping from Dubai!, I live in ND.

Was the color matched grille a new piece or used? I'm picking up a pre-facelift 4th Gen and was going to do the Facelift front end upgrade but I like the look of the color matched grille on the 03-05 while the 06-09 grille is chrome normally from what I can tell.

The Limiteds have a color-matched grille. I bought a limited grille off eBay and then modified it. (Not the current grille on mine though)

Ahh, that clears it up! I guess I'll keep my eyes out for a facelift Limited white grille then! I appreciate the info.

I now have finished my lift since it is warmer. Nothing too drastic and the ride has gotten much better.
