Pretty much decided on a 4Runner, got some questions on a Limited V8

Hi,

I've decided to pretty much get a Toyota 4Runner Limited V8, but the one problem I have is that I really love the silver roof rails that the Sport Edition still has. Is there any way that I can put those on instead of the black ones? I think silver roof rails look really nice on a black 4Runner. Did they also do something with the side steps as well from the 2004 models? The one good thing about the 2005 model is that they finally made the V8 more powerful which they should have from the beginning.

Yeah, unfortunately, Toyota decided to make the '05 Limited look very similar to the SR5. The silver roof racks are gone for '05 unless you get a Sport Edition.

And the silver running boards are gone no matter which model you get.

You could always buy the silver roof rack and bolt it in place of the regular black rack... but that would probably be very expensive.

Would you consider a Sport instead? You'd get the silver roof rack and the silver accents on the bumpers. Plus the hood scoop and the best wheel design.

I love the hood scoop on the Sport too. After having a car with leather seats, it's pretty much a must for me, and I want to just get the OEM navigation as well.

Very simple solution--

Buy the Sport Edition and have the dealer add leather. It is usually about the same price as the factory leather, but can be higher quality. Or you can have it done yourself after you buy the vehicle.

As for the navigation system-- just do what I did: Buy the factory navigation system from OEMvalue.com and install it yourself. Buying the navigation system through OEMvalue.com costs LESS than the factory option, so you'll actually save a few hundred dollars and still have a Toyota navigation system.

The diffeences I can think of between the LTD vs SE

LTD leather electric seats with seat warmers, SE you can get leather, but not the other stuff

Nav, I would seriously look at OEMvalue Nav vs getting factory Nav. The factory Nav will have th backup camera build in, not sure if the OEM value on does it.

Dual zone climate control LTD SE has single zone


DBL decker cargo std i LTD

110V supply is stock

Auto dimm rear mirror and homelink

lighted running baords

I'm sure I probably missed stuff

Also options will vary betweeen ltd and SE If you tow heavy stuff or cary lots of weight in the back you might want to consider the air suspension in the back as the stock coils in the back is not up to much.

uhh, but he's getting the more powerfull engine. I'm sure he can paint the roof rails and/or running boards easier than you can swap the engine :

Ya I know, just thought it was dumb of toyota to make you have black rails and boards on a silver Runner.

After thinking about it, I really want the Limited. Now I gotta figure out a way to get those silver roof rails. I don't think it'll matter too on the side steps being black as I want a black 4runner.

I'm sure they can cause the roof rack would be easier to paint since it made of aluminum and it a lot smoother then the running board that had texture. but June will be a year since i got it done and I'm 1/3 a way trough the winter season and the paint is still intact. no peeling or cracking from the plastic running board so far.

Looks awesome and $50 is no biggy....like you say, the roof rails should be even easier.

Yes, you can add the back-up camera if you buy the navigation system and install it yourself.

A few other differences between the Limited and Sport:

Sport comes with XREAS as standard. It's an extra cost option on the Limited.

Sport comes with a silver and black shift knob.

Sport has unique wheels only found on that model. The Limited shares wheels with the SR5.

I notice you are in the Bay area, are you going to have the dealers bid for your business? I think if you psuh hard you will get pretty nice deals at the moment.

Dont forget there is an $1000 factory rebate on the 4Runners at the moment now in this area.

So first squeeze them for invoice price adn then get the $1000 also The dealer dont pay the $1000 rabate so dont let them include it from the get go, niot their money. Besides if Toyota is offering rebates it means they are trying to move these 4Rs, time to play hardball.
