Previous generation 4Runner was better

I disagree. You don't need to own one, you just need to have driven one. That's all it really takes to know what you like or dislike about any vehicle when it comes to the way it drives/handles on the road. Personally, I think the 5th gen feels sloppy. I expect a new vehicle to feel tighter (and just generally better) than my seven-year-old 4Runner. Sadly, that wasn't the case.

Exactly.... what are the options? Some people have had good luck with a GC, Explorer or Durango, but most have not. If you want to lease or plan to trade every 3 years, maybe there is a good argument to go that direction.

Our 05 SE is going on 7 yrs -- we will keep it at least for 3 more yrs, or until we have to get a solar car..

BTW -- I still cannot figure out the 'sloppy' comment that I have seen on various threads -- I have not noticed this at all. Maybe I would understand this if my other car was a BMW. And, I am still running the Duncraps.

It's actually not an easy way at all Dockie. It took a lot of time planning, gathering rope and picking out the perfect watermelon. It may not have been necessary to have a perfectly ripe watermelon for doing that, but ever since I ate a horrible watermelon one day, It's become habit. An easy way to open it would have just been to drop it on the floor, but as you could imagine, the mess it leaves makes this option not worth it in my opinion. On a side note... you wouldn't happen to be a 6th grade girls PE teacher would you? The only reason I ask is because when I was younger, our boys class would compete against the girls class in kickball and the girls PE coach (still not sure if it was a man or a woman to this day since all the PE teachers had perms) used to call me "big guy" too, so it was just weird since that was the only other time anyone has ever called me that. Anyways... sorry to get off topic and I don't see why you are getting such a bad rep on here. You obviously seem extremely interested and genuinely care about 4Runners of all generations, especially the 5th since you spend so much time looking in this forum.

3rd Gen was amazing due to the availability of options- Superchargers, Exhaust Mods, CAIs. The body style is timeless and still looks amazing on the road today.
4th Gen was only cool because it was the first 4Runner with a V8. Other than that, it's just not all that pretty.
5th Gen has awesome interior and exterior styling. It's got a mean look and really moves- if you know how to drive it. Hopefully TRD builds a supercharger for this beast.
These are my opinions and really, who am I? You obviously love the truck YOU bought.

I found the thread link but from what I can see its all minor. Antenna, gas door release, burger tray (??), headlights/taillights, trashbag holder, rear hatch pullstrap, windshield shading, etc....booo hoooo.....

The only significant ones are the V8, and the torsen only being on the limited, both of which are fine by me. I wouldn't want the V8 anyways, and as far as I can tell the torsen is only really for people who dont know how 4wd works and when to engage it, but either way, its still available on the limited.
 
When shopping for my 5th gen, my intention was actually to purchase a 4th. The 5th gen won me over. I don't think one is superior than the other, I think it's a matter of preference, priority, and opinion.
 
4Runner Noob's perspective: We were looking to replace our LR Discovery and we looked at a few import SUV's. My wife and I like the exterior styling of the 5th Gen a little more than the 4th, that was the only tipping point for us to go with 5th gen over 4th.

A deletion is a deletion, and a list of them should be complete as possible. If you want to let me know which ones are inaccurate as they pertain to the 2010 4Runner when it was originally released, let me know and I can update as long as I can confirm it. Otherwise nothing much I can do.

Let's give the 5th gen some time to get a few years under it's belt before we compare it to the 4th gen which had a generation to refine it's details. It's not like the '03s were the perefect 4Runner when they debuted and in some respects the 3rd gen is a better built Runner than the 4th gens were.
