Price Check for used 5th Gen

I just bought a brand new one in March of '18, and to be honest I probably should have just bought used.

At about 18 months I still haven't had a single issue that the warranty would have covered. instead, i spent 18 months not wanting to spend MORE money on my brand new truck. i finally started spending money on aftermarket mods about a month ago, and I'm having a hell of a lot more fun with the car now.

so for me, like 60% of the fun of the T4R is all the cool aftermarket stuff you can do and taking it off road and pushing it to the limits. None of those things are particularly appealing with a brand spanking new $40,000 USD car, because you're just worried about banging up your new $40,000 car.

With how reliable these things are.. I'd opt for an older one and spend the rest of the money on all the fun mods and doo-dads you can add on to these bad boys.

I’d personally buy the newest rig with the least miles that I could afford. The longer you can control how the truck is maintained the longer it’ll last. My .02 cents anyway.

Thanks guys! After driving both back to back we're leaning towards the older one. It's in really good shape, minimal rust on the frame and they drive pretty much identically. After negotiation and taxes the cheaper one is going to work out to almost $20k difference which is a lot of maintenance and mod budget.

Looking at a 2012 Limited with XREAS, ENTUNE/NAV. Mileage is high at 195k and price is $14,500. One owner, has full service history from Toyota, other than the driver seat bolster showing some wear I can't find anything wrong with it. Drove like a new truck, no rust, no door dings, no rock chips (has full clear bra). Guy had multiple other Toyota's in his fleet and genuinely seemed like he was having second thoughts about selling this.

I have a GX470 with 180k and a 2013 Landcruiser with 125K so not really afraid of the miles. Never owned a 4runner and haven't been looking long so not sure if that is really what they go for with that mileage.
