Price Check on 2012 SR5

Greetings all! I've been reading the forum for quite some time now- and I am now ready to buy my first 4Runner. I've been shoping around a few different dealers and the best number offered is $31,900 on a 2012 2wd SR5 with the following options:

8 way power seats, Leather Interior Upgrade, Carpet Mats, Cargo Cross Bars, Aluminum Running Boards, and Ball Mount.

What do ya'll think? Is this a fair price on a 2012, or should a wait until more 2013's are available?

I got my SR5 4WD with PT package which includes nav, leather running boards and cross rails for 34,400 OTD.

I bought my 4wd SR5 about a month ago. $35,400msrp(ish)

I think I ended up at $31,700 or so when it was all said and done...

I'd think, by this time in the year, they should be about 10-11% off MSRP?

Is there a reason for the 4x2? Dealer pushing what he's got on the lot maybe?:shrug: I'm thinking you should be able to get a 4x4 for that price, or close to it.

Tell them to keep the running boards and ball mount! You can buy much better boards aftermarket for half the price and HomeDepot sells ball mounts for under $20.

Holy **** to the price difference!!!!!!!! I bought a 2012 SR5 with upgrade package for $42000 Canadian all said and done. And our currency is par with USD these days. You guys have it good

gotta agree with the other responses. negotiate some more and get the 4wd. forget about the other stuff they are throwing on. i have a feeling you will regret 2wd. 4wd also has much better resale, if you ever plan on selling or trading in.

Agree with all the 4X4 suggestions, unless you could care less about resale.

The 4R appeals to a certain buyer group, and the vast, vast majority buy it because it's 4WD.

As to price, you should be getting at least 10% off msrp on any '12. And moreso (IMO) on a 4X2.

don't worry about the "dealer upgrades" like the ball hitch and the oh-so desireable carpet floor mats. dealing with Philly winters, you will most likely buy some weathertech mats anyway. focus on the truck. many of those other options you mentioned can be added later, and most likely, much cheaper that from the dealer. good luck

I think my screen name may be throwing some people off..I actually live in South Alabama, not Philadelphia, sorry for the confusion. The screen name comes from a nickname, as my name is Philip. Anyways...Living in South Alabama, where it rarely snows, is why I was originally considering the 2wd.

I just bought a 2013 4x4 less than a month ago for $31,795. Mine was a base SR5 with cross bars, carpeted floor mats, chrome exhaust tip, and locking lugs.

So while mine lacks the leather and running boards, mine is a model year newer and has 4x4. I'm posting this because I would think 4x4 would be a bigger cost factor than leather and running boards. I would probably try to work them down a bit more.
