Price for complete paint job?

If anyone has had a complete paint job, how much was it? Im going from blue to black. Just trying to see what other people have paid so I know what to expect.. thanks

I havent done it...but I think it runs around $1,200 - $1,700 .

Black is a very hard color to keep clean and shiny, the scratches and chips are more noticeable too.... but it is beautiful and sexy....tho'....I have a black ride myself it is a smaller car tho a Kia Soul but I have a hard time keeping it shiny for long period of time......

not worth the trouble IMHO, especially if the only reason for doing so is changing the color, not to actually fix a major problem with the paint. Not to mention that if you do ever go to sell or trade in the future a potential purchaser is going to be very suspicious regarding a change in color and will probably think the vehicle had major damage, even if the records say it didn't

I agree on what was said, unless you are already doing it to repair some major damage, I would not recommend it solely for the purpose of changing colors. But if that is what you decide, the cost depends on the condition of the body. If any repairs are required, that will obviously jack it up, but if not, you could probably get it done for $1500 to $2000. Myself, I would spend that on some exterior mods to change the looks if that is what you are trying to accomplish.

Stop and get an estimate . I would guess for a top notch quality it would be $3k but thats just a guess . I would not do a Maaco for cheap . You get what you pay for .

A damned good paint job costs money. When I had a 73 nova, I looked around to get a TOP NOTCH paint job done, you're looking at 5-7K easily. That was just painting, not body work!


But again like everyone else is saying, black is a *****! It looks sweet, but it show's everything. I have a black 07 Acura TL, I will never do black again!!!

Are you planning on painting the door jams and engine bay? It'll be more expensive, but look proper and complete.

i agree, 5k or more for a ggod one. you can get macco or someother place to do it for 1500, but its just a waste of money, in the long run, you get what you pay for, buy cheap, get cheap.

thanks for all the input guys.. and no the only reason for a new paint job is just because black is my favorite color and no other vehicle of mine has been anything other than black. I got the blue 4runner because I have ALWAYS wanted one and I settled for blue.. I love it, just find it hard to find things to do to it so far as exterior mods (im picky and like everything to kinda match, haha). It was a LOT easier on my previous car that was blacked out, and looked hawt. I already tinted the tails and detagged it last night.. any other suggestions?

One bad thing about having a car repainted is most of the time, unless you have a great painter and prepper, you will end up with imperfections. Not to mention tape lines around trim and parts that wernt sprayed consistantly.

Like everyone else said.... I wouldnt have a car repainted unless there was an issue bing fixed. There is just too much that goes on with painting a car. Like Uneek said the jambs and engine bay would really need to be pained as well for it to look good.

Just to get a bumper cover re-sprayed costs $250 without any body work to do. I would say a decent job is between 4-6k total done correctly. There is a lot of work to do to get good coverage.

My advice: I think your better off yanking off the mods and looking for black 4runner. If your that dead set on it.
