Price on New 2012 TE??

Greetings 5th Gen owners. I'm in the market for a new TE, and while visiting a local dealership and talking with them about ordering a silver metallic 2013, they threw me a bone on a black 2012 TE. They've offered it to me at $36,000 to get it off the lot. Although I'm not really wanting it in black, I feel that this is an offer I might not be able to and shouldn't pass up. Help me make up my mind please.

It has KDSS and Entune/Nav.

All depends on whether or not you'll like black - some do, some don't. I've had two black vehicles, and I won't again. I also absolutely would not have a color I didn't like for a couple thousand dollars.

Is it a good price? ..... probably is .... what's the msrp?

I've been quoted 37,500 through only emails on brand new Trails with KDSS and Nav. I've sure you could get them lower but I'm just trying to get a ballpark number at the moment so I know how much to put down.

A color you don't love isn't worth $1500(before any negotiation) if you plan to keep the car a long time.

If Black was a second or third choice thats a pretty good price.

If Black wasn't on your list at all, then keep looking.

I would recommending getting what YOU want. For all the money that we pay for our Vehicles....you really shouldn't deviate from your ideal purchase.

Now with that being said. I just bought a 2013 TE Mag Grey w/ KDSS and Nav. I did the research and talked to several dealers around my area. Some dealers didn't want to sell cars, others did but not without trying to rope me into other cars(like yourself). In the South East, there are plenty of TE's to be had, you just have to find the dealer that will go out there and get it for you. In the end, I got what I wanted.

Long story short. Be patient and shop around until you get what you want.

Also, you have to compare finance options if you're not paying cash.

Thanks for the advice. I do like the black color, but have been warned by friends on the difficulty of keeping it clean. I think I can haggle a little more with them on price. I will be choosing the best financing option available plus down payment; I believe private loans can be had around 2.2% currently.

If you're a member of penfed($15 to join if not) you can get a loan for .99% if you qualify. Not sure how easy it is to qualify but if you try it let me know because I'm hoping to go that route for my future silver Trail.

Not sure on the price, but I recently sold a black car, had it for a month, couldn't stand it any longer. I used to come home from a car wash, 2 minutes away and it was dirty again.

I always wanted a black car, didn't listen to others, and learned the hard way. Just saying

Call your insurance company and ask them how much they would give you on a one year old 2012 TE if you totaled it today. Compare that to the price you are paying. You never know when someone else will run into you, can happen the second you drive off the lot with your one year depreciated 2012 TE. Also if you are going to keep the vehicle a long time then absolutely get the color you want even if you need to special order it.
