You said "HERE in Tx". Are you currently in Tx or Pa because this can be a game changer. I thought early you said you were in Pa and trying to get the vehicle in Tx. Anyways, this information holds true either way.
I used to sell cars in two different states and although I do not know know Tx or Pa laws both NC and Ga laws state that if a dealership charges a doc fee to one person, they must by law charge it to every person. As in there is no legal way drop that fee unless you have a automobile dealer license. Taxes, well that is up to the government to drop those and we know that will not happen. Dealer doc fees at most dealerships that I am aware of are usually around $350 but I have seen some at $450 as high as $600. A quick search on sales tax in Tx shows it to be 6.25% and in Pa 6%. You are going to pay tax in one state or the other even if you buy the vehicle out of state. If you buy out of state, often the dealer won't charge the taxes for another state but they will be assessed when you register the vehicle in the state that you register it in (so if you are financing the vehicle realize this amount won't be financed in the vehicle and you will have to pay cash when registering it). It appears it will save you about $25 if you pay the taxes in Pa. You may be able to negotiate the same amount off the sticker price but the fees will still be there. However, you have already negotiated and the dealership seems to be hanging firm with where they are at. They have left the amount of doc fees on the table though, who knows.
As far as registering the vehicle in Tx, well as I showed you taxes are cheaper in Pa anyways. Even if they were not, registering a vehicle in a state that you are not in can prove to be difficult and is illegal. If you get pulled over, the last thing you want to have to do is try to explain why you have a license in one state and a tag in another. Although it is unlikely they will impound it, it is possible and they certainly can write you a ticket.
Are you a cash buyer or are you financing the vehicle through a financial institution? If you are financing the vehicle are you expecting the dealership to find the lending institution or did you obtain it on your own? If you obtained it on your own, can you buy from private party or does the lender have any special stipulations or requirements such as the dealership you can buy it from, max miles, acceptable brands (etc)? If you are financing, how much of your own money are you using?

What branch of service are you in? I was ARMY 1st Armored Divison 2BCT 47th FSB. I just know when i was done with basic i had to buy the cheapest car i could find because of pay. 1998 opel vectra was that car

If paying cash, my thoughts are look for private seller but that is just an opinion.
When I was shopping for mine dealers were asking an additional $2k for similar vehicles and I would still have to pay doc and taxes.
Is the dealership including a warranty of any type with the vehicle?
The deposit is used as a ploy to get you take mental ownership of the vehicle more than it is to actually used to hold the vehicle for you. Not that it is a bad price they are offering you, but you have much more negotiating leverage since you are paying cash.
Don't say things like "this is the only one" or "I really like this one". You need to put the ball back in your court and when you sit down tell them you saw a couple others this weekend of similar years and miles for less money.
A good salesman is trained to recognize buying signs through what you say and your body language. Don't be too excited to buy. There are more trucks out there and you have the $12k this is going to cost you OTD, you have a lot of buying leverage.
For instance I know this one has more miles but look at all the features.

It's easy for everyone to give out lots of advice, and it's well meaning, but all of it is colored by our own priorities. Personally I would want to find an older one that's worth less than 11k, but I don't want a Thundercloud Sport and the OP does. He should decide based on what he can afford and what's most important to him, which he probably already has done. He doesn't sound like a dummy to me.
If you have spent any time looking for these things you know that most CL and used car lot 3rd gens turn out to be crap for one reason or another. There definitely are some deals to be had, especially in places like PA, but you have to wade through a bunch of junk to find the good ones. Hard to do that from a distance and you can't be very picky about model, year, etc.
If you look at the expected miles left in the vehicle (I figure they'll go around 300k with original engine), some of the links that have been posted here are to Runners that are actually more expensive per mile just considering the purchase price, plus they are way closer to possible major repairs. The upfront price is less, but you would spend more if you plan to drive the truck into the ground. If you don't drive much this maybe isn't a consideration, but from the perspective of someone who does put the miles on (50k per year between my husband and I), it makes more sense to look at your long term driving costs rather than getting too hung up on what you pay for the individual truck. At least it does to me.

Mtnchick and Obt thanks for your advised I really appreciate it. Well see tomorrow how everything turns outs. I search yesterday and found another 2002 in San Diego with 75k sport edition this one was a 2wd. I called the dealer and they advised me it sold in less than 12 hrs and the price was $12995. Sales person said 4r's sale in a heartbeat!!! Can you believe that!!!!
Ha ha. Yes, but who knows for sure what they got for it. Try buying a low miles 5 speed in the west if you want some real fun chasing.

I'm sure the asking price or close to it, is our fault for paying this high prices and making the Tacoma's and 4r's so valuable.

Price varies too much by location so unless someone in your town has a deak for you then a price means nothing. Its only worth what youll pay.
I was offered $11000 for mine because in the pnw they can go for double book. I have a few friends in the auto industry.
Example, although not a runner, 1996 standard cab 4x4 tacoma 5spd with 41K original miles went for $15K. My buddy sold it last week

Did you do OK? I gave up and bought one in Philly.
