Thanks. I'm not sure on the exact weight but it is very light. Prinsu may be able to provide the specific weight but I would guess around 50 lbs.
 
Due to winning a RTT recently,it was the perfect excuse for adding a roofrack. And after perusing limited options for the 5th gen 4runner, this is what I just pulled the trigger on.

Gobi while being a great sturdy rack had some downfalls. First being bad business practice forcing out the competition, and the other being lack of modularity and variability.

Bajarack, don't even get me started on their quality escapes, just read up on what [MENTION=123786]Keith_PDX[/MENTION] has unfortunately dealt with and it sadly will turn you off to Bajarack for awhile...

K9 and front runner were very similar to me and great racks just not what I wanted exactly and they seemed a little pricey to me for what you get.

Drabbits makes a beautiful rack, similar to gobi, and with some people waiting over a year for a rack that's just out of the question...

Prinsu had it all. Design, style, modularity, variability, etc.drilling isn't scary if you do it right, and this one is extremely low clearance. It has everything I want and need and nothing that I dont. You go prinsu!
 
These racks look amazing. Think I have definitely decided on which rack I am going to get. Now, if only someone would buy my stock wheels and tires.

My biggest concern was not seeing one with a RTT, but it looks great and sounds like it should do the trick. And the option for the cutaway front plate for the light strip is awesome too.

Man I need to order one soon.
 
This rack does not seem friendly at all to install a roof top tent on it. Looks impossible to get yor hand under to bolt the brackets to the cross bars. I would not want to even attempt it using this rack. Especially when I can attach my RTT in less than 15 minutes on my current rack.

This was one of the important factors for me when choosing a rack.

welp with my current housing setup it goes on once and stays on. And other guys have stated they have just removed the bars with the RTT still mounted and its easy as well. Also i have lady hands, so that makes them smaller and more nimble right? :hippie:

Interesting.

With my Autohome Hardshell tent I installed it from the sides of the vehicle. Installing it from the sides of the vehicle would be impossible to do with the Prinsu. I think from the front and ends it would be impossible to install the tent.
 
Do they have awning mount brackets? Looking on their website I didn't see them under accessories but you never know if their site is just not up to date.
 
If you had enough crossbars, could you stand on top of the Prinsu rack and walk around? I would like to have a rack where I could stand on top for a better view or maybe even setup a lawn chair or two for fireworks, admiring a view, taking pictures, etc.

If you wanted to do that I would put a sheet of aluminum or perforated aluminum\steel on top of the crossbars to distribute the weight. I have thought of doing this myself.
 
I'm kind of a rookie when it comes to group buys. How many of you are interested in getting a rack? I'd be willing to get the group buy together if there's enough interest. Also any group buy set up tips for a rookie?
 
I am new to this roof rack deal, can you post photos of the holes you drilled in the roof to support the 2 non factory mounts. So photos of all your mounting points to include the stock mounting points.

The TW Group Buy for Prinsu had 150 participants within days and a waiting list. I got the Prinsu Rack for my FJ Cruiser by jumping in on the TW Group Buy. Also jumped in on the Shrockworks Group Buy here on this forum for sliders for FJ and daughter's 3rd Gen 4Runner.

My advice on group buys is watch the other Toyota forums and don't be shy. I also cant speak for Zach, but my guess is that you aren't going to see another group buy until Spring next year...but what do I know. Also, the GB discount basically offset the shipping cost, so not sure it's worth the wait for the dollar savings....just depends on which rack you want to get and whether you want to wait until Spring next year or whenever Zach Scott decides to do a group buy. And, if you are not paying attention, you may not get in on it due to the extremely high demand for these racks.
 
Maybe Ramon Ortiz can get it going.. seems to be the GO TO guy in group buys.. he has another one going for the Front Runner rack..

That is the first time anyone has asked about it by name. I have had many nice comments about it and was even had a foreign tourist who was driving a 4Runner in Yosemite stop and ask me many questions about it.

I guess the Prinsu name is getting around.
