Have a '14 that I had to learn tricks in Oklahoma heat & sun.
First week I owned the truck, I tinted the front windows ~28% to match the rears. Seriously doubt that's legal in Cali.
If you can't park in the shade, park facing north. This gets equal sun in the side windows over the course of the day, but the rear lip spoiler will block most of the sun from the rear window, and the body of the truck will keep most of the sun off the dashboard. The rear glass is also tinted darker than the windshield, so exposing it to the sun instead of the windshield helps too.
Crack all windows including the rear, tilt the sunroof up but leave the sunshade mostly closed (only about 2-3 inches open). This will let the heat vent better than just cracking windows as the sunroof will act like a chimney.
(If you have it, use remote start for 3-5 minutes)
When you get in the truck, kill re-circulation mode, run fan on step short of full speed (full speed moves air quickly over the evaporator, which doesn't let it cool down). Set temp at coldest AC or one step above (not MAX which keeps recirc on). Running it with a step in the heat direction sounds counter intuitive, but it opens a baffle in the air flow system to draw in air from the heating side, except that since the truck isn't at operating temperature yet, it's not yet heated air and it will allow more outside air (cooler than inside air) to flow into the passenger compartment.
Drop all the windows, drive for about 1/2-1mi (40+mph). Once the AC is blowing cold air, switch the fan directional control to the floor/defrost option leaving windows down. This will help cool down the hot dashboard radiating heat into your passenger compartment and start blowing cooler air at your feet instead of at chest level where it will be going out the window. Once the dashboard cools a bit, close the windows and sunroof changing AC to blow out shoulder vents.
Of course if your AC isn't getting cold then you do have a problem that none of this will help greatly. Might want to consider an AC service where they check the refrigerant pressure differential, you might be low. I know a while back AutoZone/Advanced used to advertise a free check in hopes you'd buy their recharging system, I don't know if that's still the case. Good Luck!
