Problem with drive shaft

I understood that to mean did you shift into Park or Reverse why you were driving which caused the driveshaft to break. I'm guessing you didn't do that because that would be pretty catastrophic.

Definitely did not do that.

Did you remove the zerk fitting for the slide yoke grease before attempting to pull it out? **Note: IF it has a zerk. The spiders don't on the 2WD, but the yoke might?
If so, and it still won't come out, maybe the yoke/tube got bent during the [apparently] violent disintegration event.

So if that is the case. What would I need to do to remove it ?

They stick in there sometimes. I had my rear yolk break just like that, and I had to use a hammer and crowbar to get the front yolk out.

A 5lb slide hammer would be the way I do it. This way you have less chance of bending/breaking your yoke, and more chance of getting it out, as the force is directly backward.

Your local automotive store should have a 5lb slide hammer kit with the multiple adapters that you can use to hook it up

Same here, but I'm having trouble taking my drive shaft out of the transmission side. seems locked in for some reason. Did you get your fixed?

Since this a pretty old post, I assume you got it fixed. How did you take the drive shaft end out of the tranny side?

Is it a 4wd or 2wd 3rd gen? The 4wd is bolted and nuts on.
