OK all, here is the latest.
First, let me give you guys some background info. When I picked the truck up after the second fix (a few weeks ago) the problem seemed a whole lot worse than when I brought it in. I repeatedly questioned the service advisor about whether a new seat frame assembly had actually been installed, because I just could not fathom how a brand new frame could cause the problem to get WORSE. I questioned him on two or three separate occasions and at one point he told me he watched them do part of it. Still, I had my doubts, because the seat was as bad as the first time I brought it in (October or so).
Fast forward to today. The service manager, who I've known for a few years, calls me to tell me that no, the new seat was never installed because it was the wrong color and it was for a manual seat. I didn't want to throw the advisor under the bus but I told the service manager everything that I had been told, along with my doubts. He actually seemed embarassed about the whole situation and apologized a couple of times for the "miscommunication" and the "misinformation." I mean, I'm no fool, and my shit detector is pretty good but he seemed sincere. I'll tell you guys, that detector was going off when I was repeatedly told that a new frame had been installed.
I am now being told that it's not the seat or the frame, but rather that the seat had been put back in improperly and that there was a small space between the rail and the seat bolt. He told me that the tech added an extra washer and there is no more problem, that he drove my truck for 20 minutes, made 30 or so turns in a parking lot, and no movement or noises.
Hmmmm. I am a bit skeptical, believe me....but I will find out later and report. An extra washer solved a problem for which an entire TSB exists? I doubt it...but I will keep an open mind.
