Problem with Driver's Seat

Does the Tacoma or FJ have the same problem? I can't imagine Toyota uses a totally different design in all three vehicles.

I just picked up my 4R today from the dealer for the seat problem. Last week they ordered an entire new front seat and installed it today. No clicking or popping and the seat feels more supportive, hope it lasts!

edit- They said they had to order the entire front seat since the vehicle has the side airbag option.

Toyota HQ is now involved.

The dealership has had my truck for a few days and has given me a 2007 Runner as a loaner.

I am pressing hard for a brand new seat to be installed. Will keep you all updated.

TSB NV011-06 is the correct one and was posted earlier in this thread by kmorello.

Those links for AllData don't work. They redirect to a general page.

Does anyone have the newest TSB as a pdf?

OK all, here is the latest.

First, let me give you guys some background info. When I picked the truck up after the second fix (a few weeks ago) the problem seemed a whole lot worse than when I brought it in. I repeatedly questioned the service advisor about whether a new seat frame assembly had actually been installed, because I just could not fathom how a brand new frame could cause the problem to get WORSE. I questioned him on two or three separate occasions and at one point he told me he watched them do part of it. Still, I had my doubts, because the seat was as bad as the first time I brought it in (October or so).

Fast forward to today. The service manager, who I've known for a few years, calls me to tell me that no, the new seat was never installed because it was the wrong color and it was for a manual seat. I didn't want to throw the advisor under the bus but I told the service manager everything that I had been told, along with my doubts. He actually seemed embarassed about the whole situation and apologized a couple of times for the "miscommunication" and the "misinformation." I mean, I'm no fool, and my shit detector is pretty good but he seemed sincere. I'll tell you guys, that detector was going off when I was repeatedly told that a new frame had been installed.

I am now being told that it's not the seat or the frame, but rather that the seat had been put back in improperly and that there was a small space between the rail and the seat bolt. He told me that the tech added an extra washer and there is no more problem, that he drove my truck for 20 minutes, made 30 or so turns in a parking lot, and no movement or noises.

Hmmmm. I am a bit skeptical, believe me....but I will find out later and report. An extra washer solved a problem for which an entire TSB exists? I doubt it...but I will keep an open mind.

OK, here is the latest. I picked up the truck this am and have been driving it off and on for about 5 hours. Remember, this was the "extra washer" fix for the popping and moving driver's seat.

Well, I can always admit when I am wrong, and I was extremely skeptical...but so far so good. The seat makes no noise, no popping sounds, nothing. And it does not move, feels nice and tight. Looks like they got it right.

I know it's early but just wanted to report, so if any of you are having the same problems, this might just do the trick.

Well, I guess I spoke too soon. The problem is coming back. I've already notified the dealership and they said no problem, looks like the next step is to replace the entire seat. All they have to do is get approval from Toyota HQ.

I love my truck and all, but damn this is frustrating. I guess the 20 lbs. I've put on in the last few months is breaking my seat.

Oh well.

My problem came back as well regardless of the seat position. I better take my truck in soon, it just broke the 30,000 mile mark.
