Problems/Issues with the 2014 4runner

The biggest problem is I find myself constantly fighting the urge to hang out with it instead of my wife and friends.

In all seriousness, the one actual issue I have currently is kind of a strange one. One of the third-row headrests won't stay up for whatever reason. It's on a strap-activated lever that obviously isn't engaging correctly. My dealer was ordering the part and supposed to be calling me as of three weeks ago... Which reminds me...

Did the sun visor clip repair work? I have a rattle or slight popping creak from the passenger side of the dash. I cant track down where its coming from though sounds as if its someplace in the corner where the dash meets the bottom of the windshield. Its driving me crazy
 
No it didn't. I have taken it to the dealer twice and according to them they tightened one of the sunvisor clips and took apart the door. They thought that fixed the problem but the sound remained. It seems to get worse when the tempe drops below 45. The last time I took it the temp was in the 20s that morning and the sound was non stop. By the time the servicec tech looked it over he said he couldn't hear it the temp had warmed to the mid 50s. If anyone can pinpoint what this problem is I will be beyond grateful.

I was having the same noise/rattle on the passenger side when going thru small bumps or rough bumpy part of the road like some are experiencing. It was driving me nuts too. Took out everything from the glove box and tried to reach and hold down the visor and even the grab handle. No luck. What I discover was that it only happens when I was driving alone. So while I was going over the passenger side for possible causes, I saw that the front passenger seat belt was twisted and that the buckle was skewed towards the body panel. So I fixed the seat belt to sit the right way and took it out and test drive it to the same place when it made the rattle noise. Fixed! No more rattle. Maybe this will help.

Nope I have had that problem before so I leave all the other seatbelt buckled just for the reason.
 
I have the problem with the taillights. I took pictures just have not taken it in yet. The noise you are hearing could it be coming from the front passenger seat or the back passenger seats? I noticed that there is sometimes a slight noise coming from the passenger area. I can't really tell if it is front or back. Either way this morning I banged on the rear passenger seat and I could replicate somewhat of the same sound. I am not sure if this it or not. I will mess with it this weekend, as it is not too annoying for me, but yet it is...

Also, the noise is when going over slight bumps too. It is a high pitch kind of noise. Weird...

I had condensation in one of the tail lights on my 2014 LE as well, so the dealer replaced that tail light assembly (no questions asked) since it's supposed to be sealed.

I'm new to a 4Runner so maybe this isn't actually an issue and how it's supposed to be but it seems when I turn left with any speed, maybe some small bumps, there seems to be quite the rattle somewhere in/under the vehicle. It seems to be a big rattle as far as parts under the vehicle.

I have not experienced this at any other times besides taking left turns with any speed.

My 2014 TE w/KDSS also does this, checked TSB's as im a Tech a Toyota i have checked every bolt and all are tight. Im going to wait till 5k and see how it is.
 
Mine has water in the taillights, too, since the day I bought it. When I pointed it out, the service lady said that this was a common problem for the 2014s. I thought it was just the one, but it turns out that water is in both of them. They will be replacing both of them tomorrow.

Forgot to post here but they told me it was my tires rubbing the plastic mud flaps that was making this noise. I am pretty sure it's not but they checked everything they could and all was tight. I know the sound it's making and it doesn't sound anything like rubbing tires.

Since this was their diagnosis, they charged me for the apt as it was not under warranty.

I'm running standard size tires so I am confused. Hoping it eventually goes away and doesn't cause problems
 
My 2014 SR5 premium, has the sweaty taillights and also I can't find the Temperature Gauge for the Transmission, Toyota say on their website the 2014's have.

Sometimes when I turn on the 4R I hear a noise similar to a spring coming off and then a light on the dashboard comes on really fast and then shuts off(maybe for like 1/2 a second). I'm taking it to the dealer tomorrow.
Sucks because I have the lift at home ready to be install but I don't want Toyota to put the blame on the lift, so now it has to wait.
Has anybody experience this?

wait you are worried about them blaming a dash noise on a suspension lift?
 
First time Toyota owner-brand new one week old 2014 TE with the Premium package. I have been noticing a "clunky" downshift at approximately 35-40 mph when I take my foot off the gas pedal. Transmission downshifts, vehicle compression brakes and then tach will momentarily surge in the new lower gear. It takes longer to describe it then to actually take place. Reminds me of a driver that is new to manual transmissions that overuses the downshift to get a braking effect.

Example: driving a parkway with a speed limit of 35 mph, look down and notice I am running about 42 mph and approaching a common speed trap for radar. So the foot momentarily comes off the gas to scrub a minimum of speed and voila -- instant downshift, engine brake and tach surge.

Anybody else notice this?

If you are going down a hill then this is completely normal. If you are going up a hill then take it to a shop lol.
