On our 06 the problem was just when the engine was running. First power was tapped off the 12v accesory plug on console. After that was a fail power was tapped from under the dash, actualy had local stereo guy do that with no luck. He kept blaming it on aux cables and tried every one in the store with no results. I just left the shop in a bad mood and let it be. The noise was so annoying that I actualy canceled the second subscription to sirius.
My wifes Ipod played great plugged into the aux jack so we just let it be. Well few weeks ago I was looking around in local electronics store and saw the fm modulator connector that was supposed to block the fm signal. Brought what I had found here to ask about what others had thought and luckily MLSD had an even better solution that worked great.

Right, and the reason wdhigh's wife's ipod doesn't have a problem is that there's no "ground loop" when the device is self-powered. You're only going to have this issue if you plug a device into the AUX input and that device is being powered through the vehicle's electrical system. It doesn't matter if you tap the fuse box, use a cig lighter, or run a cable directly to the battery. You'll still have the problem unless you install a ground loop filter or get the TSB applied (which is really just a nice ground loop filter that the dealer installs in the center console).

I can also vouch for the TSB being a perfect fix.....Unfortunately my 07 had 38k when I brought i to them, and they wanted to charge me $250+ for the fix.
My extended warranty through Continental actually picked up the bill to my surprise! My service adviser either laid a good line of bull, or my warranty actually is worth the paper it's written on.
My Sirius was dreadful to listen to before that fix, and now is as clear as possible, just like the Archos mp3 player when on 12v power.
