I have a 2003 4Runner with 236K miles on it. I keep it up and maintain it regularly.

Three of my 4 stock wheels are bubbling, flaking and chipping. I did inquire with a local shop (AWRS) that specializes in wheel refinishing and restoration. They gave me an estimate of about $150 -$175 per wheel. Replacing them with a new or used set of stock wheels would run about $400 per wheel.

Has anyone worked with a shop that does wheel refinishing? What was your experience like?

Has anyone worked with AWRS (Alloy Wheel Repair Specialists)?

I have the same issue as well and also been contemplating on replacing or repairing them. The estimate seems accurate and is a normal quote. Rather than fixing the rims it might be worth it to get new TRD rims they are around $175 a rim.

Did you try looking into getting them powder coated? I was told its about $75 per wheel and you can get any color you want. I noticed two of my wheels are starting to flake, so I just might Plastic dip them for now.

Those prices are about the same up here in Canada.
It's always cheaper to refinish than replace. At least with oem wheels anyway. It all depends on whether or not you wanna keep it stock looking.

Going to do my 06 Ltd wheels. They're on the high priced side as they're painted and clear coated.
