Projector Retrofit

Me and [MENTION=50591]gaterose[/MENTION] completed my projector retrofit yesterday and it came out great. If you have an 03-05 and dont want to do a face lift but want projectors, this is definitely the way to go. The Retrofit Source has some great products and great customer service.

Specs:
Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 projector
Morimoto 3Five 6000k bulbs
Gatlin Gun 2.0 Shrouds

After we baked them apart we had to trim the back of the headlight housing down so that there was enough room to screw the projector in

Final product

Going to try a restoration kit and see if i can get rid of some of the oxidation and hazing. I also want to thank [MENTION=65918]krupnation[/MENTION] for all the help he gave on how to install these, would have taken alot longer and would have been some careless mistakes without all the help.

Glad I could help Adam! Final product looks awesome. Just wait till your driving down a country road at night now, they are so bright! More pics of the cut-off at night when you get a chance.
 
with a lil more work, you could of fit fxr or an oem tl, s2k, rx, ls430 ls 460, with those projectors you can use oem d2s bulbs. which give you some of the best output.anyway show some output pic.

Yet again, I saw your name.. and yet again you're telling someone their projectors aren't good enough... do you contribute anything else?

The options you list are all over $200 for projectors alone, and require a LOT (not "a lil") more work to install.

Adam wanted something so he could run HIDs without blinding people and he wanted to do it on a budget. I believe he has under $130 in this setup including bulbs.

And from talking to him last night, he is VERY HAPPY with the output of the mini h1 6.0s, regardless of whether other projectors provide better output or not.
 
with fxr you only cut a hole in the reflector, just like any other projectors, although the mh1 6.0 is a good performer, theres other good options as well. well the good thing is you guys did it right with retrofiting, instead of putting the plug and play kit.

It's awesome stuff like that makes me want to delete my account and never get on here again. I was just saying the other day that I was finally happy with my truck and now you go and post this. Say goodbye to another $150 bucks I guess...haha but really that's a great looking retrofit for not a lot of money!
 
Good work. Only reason I didn't try retrofiting my lights yet is because my plastic isn't in best shape. I have the 06+ lights, with HIDS, and I'd honestly like more light. I was thinking upgrading those projectors.

Haha man it seems like everytime i get a little bit of change i have to do something, now im looking for some headlights with better lens on them and swap them out if the restoration kit doesnt do good, And thanks for the complement, these H1s are great and plenty fine for my needs

If you haven't bought the restoration kit yet I'd try wet sanding them. The detail guys at the dealership I work at showed me how to this summer. Basically you just start with a fine grit sand paper and keep the lens wet with a spray wax or something similar. Then you work your way down in grit until you hit clear plastic. Then they used a random orbital buffer with a cloth pad to polish them and finished with a hand wax. They look brand new in the end.

Yeah the only thing about that is i would have to go buy sand paper, a buffer, and wax lol by the time i did that i would cost more (college kid budget) and the kit comes with a sealer which i would like to use. Be careful on that group buy, the dont ship until every 10 orders are made with the discount and its only on the kits not just the projectors. You wont regret it though by doing it for sure
 
Heres a picture of the output, i was a decent ways away from this so the cut off isnt as sharp but the picture still doesnt do it justice



Ill try to get another one up close to a garage door tomorrow so you can see the cut off better
 
atleast the cutoff is straight on the first try, most i seen was misalighnment on either side. good job to the 2 of you for doing things right. now let see the upclose 25+ feet of the wall shot, this is the money shot.

As far as the haze on the lights, do what others say (wet sand, etc), but also try to keep on top of keeping them "waxed" (projected) to prevent them from hazing again. I use Meguiars Headlight protectant. So far, so good. Seems to keep the hazing in check.

Thanks i like them alot. Do you know if this protectant acts as a sealer as well? if thats the case then i go buy some sandpaper and this and call it a day
