PSA- Stop Quoting Posts Full Of Photos!

I thought it was well-known, common-sense kind of forum etiquette knowledge, but I've been seeing it quite a bit, so it must not be.
In order to keep the threads less cluttered- when quoting someone's post, please delete the unnecessary photos.
It's super easy to do, and makes it much more enjoyable to read through threads.
This is a great forum, and I'm super thankful for all the knowledge and "friends" that can be gained here.
The 5th gen forum is full of trolling, plasti-dipping, and general non-sense. I couldn't ask for a better forum, and contribute when I am able to.

Read the thread your about to post to. At least the first 2 and last 4 pages. Chances are the question your gonna ask again is already answered. Usually 10 times or more.

Sometimes people quote the original post of a thread too, and that's just completely pointless!

I actually quote or mention people so they get the notification. Sometimes you'll post something and not get an answer for a day. By then the thread is buried. If I'm not quoted or mentioned I'll forget about it till it floats to the top again. lol

This may be less of an issue now that Photobucket just broke half the forum. Hopefully it isn't that bad but I'm guesing at least 25% threads are laid to waste.

I know you're only halfway serious, and it really freakin sucks that we lost a bunch of pictures.

I don't think that 25% of BUILD threads is a bad estimate for how prevalent Photobucket is on this site. ... Unfortunately. :toilet:

I was wondering what happened to all the photos. I haven't used photo bucket in a long time. Pain in the but. I just use Tapatalk app and load pics from my phone. I could see using photo bucket for HQ pics I guess. But phones are pretty legit with pictures now.

I just host photos on here, it's clunky but I know that if I ever leave my photos are still here to help people. There's nothing more annoying that finding the write-up for the exact job you're about to tackle and then... the photos are gone. Bummer.

Yeah, a few people did that in my frame swap thread and I asked them to fix it. Not all of them did, but some did. It really breaks up the flow of the thread and is just inconsiderate.

I'll delete the .jpg's when I quote something like that where I want the poster to see the notification.

Here's another suggestion: When Photobucket, Flickr, and the other image hosting services change or go belly up, or the OP deletes those photos from his/her account, the photos posted through those services will be lost. Much better to post a small(0.5 to 1.0 MB) JPEG directly to the forum.

OK, showing my ignorance here. How do you do that?

I know how to attach an image, but the 136k cap is often a problem.

And a question for the Moderators: I always assumed that hosting images off-site was a way of reducing bandwidth needs, thereby controlling costs. Is this not the case?
