I was wondering if the usb could be split, then stash the wireless in the glove box and maintain the single for a charger.

Honestly it’s kind of sad they didn’t put more usb up front. IMO

I recently installed this wireless CarPlay adapter in my 2020 ORP.

It works exactly as advertised. No more need to plug the phone in every time to get CarPlay functionality. Great for short trips. For longer journeys I will likely revert back to plugging the phone in....unless I can find a good wireless charging solution.

I have the same brand wireless CarPlay adaptor as well. Now I just leave my iphone in my arm rest glove box and charge with this wireless charger. Fits perfectly with the armrest tray.

My plan is to purchase the dash panel from 2019 and below vehicles to replace ours. It has a single button sized opening that used to have the usb port and aux port.

I'll use the new opening for a switch for lights, and then use a usb extension to reroute the usb port to the center console and hide the carplay adapter there.

I also am looking at hiding a wireless charging coil in the center cubby, but I plan on getting a new iphone this year with the magsafe thing on the back. I can then VHB tape one of those chargers to the side of the console, dash, etc and throw my phone on there and it'll stay in place.

How did this install work out? This is exactly what I plan on doing. Seems stupid that the center console USB doesn't connect to Android auto from the factory

I have a competing brand product and it works great. Wired CarPlay stinks. Wireless is awesome. My old Kenwood radio in my FJ was wireless. Hard to convert to the wired version. I like to have my phone free.

Agreed! Could not wait to get my new audio system installed, in large part for the wireless CarPlay, between that and the wireless charging setup I did in my console it solved 2 big issues for me.

Not a fan of carplay/Auto. Loss of audio quality over WiFi and the plug is annoying. But still way better than stock. lol

I have a competing brand product and it works pretty well. Drops out every once in a while and need to unplug / plug back in but it sure beats having a wire. What I did for charging is that I replaced the power outlet with a dual USB charger and put another inline. For the inline one I plugged a charging cable into it and placed it behind the lower part of the dash. For the charging end, I stuck a little pigtail out right below my RamX mount. Super easy and a nice clean install.

Worked perfectly! Pre-2019 part installed without issue, and I put my front/rear camera switch there. Then just put a panel mount USB extension into the center console and put the wireless adapter in there.

I have been using carlinkit 4.0 for fews weeks. It supports wireless carplay and wireless Android auto. Plug it in, pair, and off you go. The tiny lags are not at all annoying. Keep my iphone X in my pocket unless it needs a charge.
