Pulling timing chain cover 05 v6 4runner

I am going to pull the timing chain cover to reseal the gasket surrounding it. Is there any maintenance I should perform while I have the cover off? Anything I should check while I'm in there?

Thanks in advance

There is one o-ring that will need to be replaced that comes off with the timing cover. Its for the oil pump. How many miles?

I think that he was asking about the mileage to find out whether or not it would be worth while to replace the timing chain and or tensioners while you're in there.

At 170k I'd definitely check both but you probably won't need to replace either unless you just want to while you're in there for peace of mind.

The water pump on the V6 doesn't require the timing cover to be removed and it's a pretty easy job. There wouldn't be any benefit to adding the water pump replacement to this job unless you know for a fact that it's leaking or otherwise defective. That's only my opinion of course.
