Purchasing New 2013 SR5

All,

I'm new here (apologize if I'm posting this in the wrong forum), purchasing my first T4R, though my folks have a 99 with 205K, still runs like a beauty, which largely weighed in my decision here.

I am about to sign the dotted line, I just wanted to confirm with the folks that know best on what a fair price is. My lowest out the door offer with tax and all fees included (no trade) is 33,698 (price before was 31,203). From my research online, that (31,203) appears to be just below invoice? The dealers have also agreed to perform lifetime oil/filters/batteries, along with including 2yr-25K bumper to bumper maintenance.

What do you guys think? Do I have more room to go down or should I jump in? Can't wait to become an active member around here. My last decision I need to make is Metallic Grey or Black, I cannot make a decision there either!

Thanks for that. I wanted to check in here to get a true assessment, other than just going by what I've been reading online. I've got at least 2 working against each other, so I think I've got a little wiggle room left. They're both builds also, so there's no way they're going to take the offer away either.

I gotta say, I love the negotiation with internet sales managers opposed to inside the dealership. Had a miserable experience in store last week, never again. Email negotiations only!

The internet has been a blessing in more ways than one, NOT having to negotiate "Old School" with a Car Sales Manager on their turf is certainly one.
Good Luck

I did use TrueCar, but have read that they weren't very legit. Their numbers are $31,959 (invoice) and 31,975 for "estimated average member price" whatever that is.

Bah.. looks like they no longer provide the actual invoice price. Wow... that's been their big draw since they started out... can't believe they changed that. It was providing it in April when we purchased.

Anyway, this site seems to have invoice pricing for the models and options
2013 Toyota 4Runner Vehicle Options

If you can get your total close to invoice plus regional ad and destination (varies by your location), you are in good shape.

Thanks for sharing. I've also asked for the most striped down SR5 that they can provide me. I figured they would be taking off just about everything in the car to meet my desired price. Is there a list of base features/options that are not optional to be removed? It is 4WD.

They will probably not remove anything from the factory. If you want a stripper you'll need to dealer prefer transfer aka "order" it. I have a stripper and it has only power seats and floor mats - the least they could find in the gulf states program. Look for a left over 2012 not many people want stripped down 4Runners. Lots of Toyota dealers around if one I'd not really working with you just head down the road to the next on.

In OK we don't pay sales tax to the dealer so 31,$$$ is not a bad price. I can only go off my experience in which I felt with over 10 dealers and settled for the best I could do which was in my link.

Most of the options tend to come port-installed. If that's the case you may have a hard time getting them to remove them. Anything dealer installed is typically removable. Do you have a copy of the invoice? You can also search on your own on the Toyota website to see what's in your area. It may not have incoming shipments but it should show you what's in stock and what options it came with.

To clarify, I don't necessarily need something that stripped down past stock. I basically just want an SR5 without any of the additional packages.

Right now, I have the price (31203) from Dealer #1, the OTD price (33,698) from Dealer #2, have asked #2 for a copy of the invoice should I purchase with them, have gone back to Dealer #1 asking the beat #2's OTD Price and have contracted dealers 3, 4, 5 with Dealer #1's price, asking them to provide their best OTD price. Feel like this could take a few days...

Just my $.2 cents, dealer should knock off $3,000 off of MSRP right off the bat. After that the battle starts. And with Toyota it is a tough battle from past experience. Again, this is just my opinion. Good luck.

Thanks for the replies.

To update - my previous car had some trouble over the weekend, coupled with the fact that I didn't want to wait the 4-8 weeks for an order and I ended up purchasing a 2011 SR5 CPO. The 4R came with a bunch of extras that I wouldn't have had if I went completely base with a 2013, so needless to say, I'm very happy with the purchase/decision. Off to the new members area I go.

Thanks!! I believe they're extras, they weren't on the spec sheet I was receiving for the 2013 base SR5s I was looking at.

Power front seats and sunroof, rearview backup camera (unless this is stock?), running boards, roof rails (unless stock, again).

I haven't done much research on what packages were available because I went in not wanting anything, but I assume this is some type of convenience package?

If I were you I would check out autotrader and go for a new 2012 within a 250 mile area , they are still out there . Deal with their real internet manager and you should be able to find a 2012 for $30-$31K . I just bought a 2010 certfied Ltd for this price and my option was a new 2012 SR5 for $30.5K. Local dealers in the mid south were offering "below invoice' two weeks ago for 2012 new vehicles in St Louis for example ..
In other words toyota was offering unpublished incentives or hold back to move the 2012's direct to the dealers as they do every fall, but fail to tell the public !

Good luck !
