Q) Locking Differentials Front & Rear? on 2010 SR5

Question) What is my stock Locking Differentials setup for Front & Rear on my 2010 SR5? It has a manual H2, H4 & L4 stick shift.
I do feel in 4WHI(H4) the steering feels hard & front tires chirp on tight turning on no snow asphalt. This surprised me as I thought it would only happen on 4W Lo(L4).

You don't have locking diffs. Shifting into 4wd splits power 50/50 and doesn't allow for the front and rear axles to spin at different speeds like they normally do when turning. Each tire follows a different path which means it's rotation speed is different. This causes binding in 4wd because there is no center diff like in AWD vehicles unless it's a vehicle equipped with both modes.

You are locking the center diff not the front and rear.

If you are driving on dry road and enter a turn you are probably hearing the tires chirp. This happens since the front and rear are traveling at different speed a turn but are locked together in 4wd. AWD does not have this issue since the center diff can vary the front and rear speeds.

An SR5 won't have the rear locking differential from the factory like the TRD OR/P or PRO unless they are aftermarket. The chirping is from being in 4H/4L on dry pavement as there isn't anything for the inside wheel to "slip" on in off-road or snowy situation. simply the front and rear wheels trying to go the same speed in a tight turn will put it into a binding situation and it will hop/buckle/chirp. Not very good long term.

4hi and 4lo are the same, they're just geared differently. 4lo also turns off all traction assists. neither should be used other than in situations where you have low traction.

as noted, only the trail/off-road/trd pro have locking rear diffs from the factory, and no 4runners have locking from diffs
