question about bypassing stock JBL subwoofer

Alright, so I've done plenty of sub installs before. But I do have a question about which wires to use going into my new amp. I plan on keeping the stock sound system, for the most part at least. I want to just bypass the output of the stock jbl sub, then send that output through my other kenwood amp, and out to my 2 12's that are in their own box. Anyone know how I can do that? Thanks.

Maybe this will help. He adds an amp to power the sub here and then leaves the stock amp to power the rest of the sound system.

If I did that, wouldn't I just be re-amplifying an already amplified signal?
Wouldn't I have to splice in before the amp?

Yes, but that's perfectly fine, I did this for about 4 months until I finally upgraded my whole sound system. Just make sure you have your new amp set to "high level input" or "speaker input" what ever it's called, and not "low level input" / "line level input"

The stock JBL head sends digital data to the amp. The DAC is part of the amp so there's useable signal between the stock head and amp.

The low pass filter blocks bass or blocks everything BUT bass, I'm pretty sure.. that's more of a frequency cutoff; you just want to make sure the amp knows that you're input is a high audio level vs. a low - line level signal. What's the model # for your amp, I'll look up the manual and may be able to help you out better.

I believe it's a Kenwood KAC-7205. It's about 2 or 3 years old. But looks and works like new. I really liked it in my last vehicle.

Alright, to the right of the RCA input, there's a connector for your speaker level inputs (what you need to use), you need the plug for it though, it should have come with the amp, hopefully it isn't lost by now, if you're good with electronics, you should be able to solder your wires in if you lost the connector. It says

SIGNAL SENSING
TURN-ON
"

That also means that you don't have to run a "remote turn-on" wire either, the amp will turn on and off automatically when it senses voltage on the speaker line.

And the filter should be set all the way to the right, where it says "LPF", this sets it up for use with a subwoofer, instead of higher frequencies for speakers.
