Question on cam and crank seal 3.4L

I'm due for a timing belt, and at 210K I thought it might be prudent to do the cam and crank seals. I'm going to have the dealer do it. Before you flame me I have my reasons...1st is the dealer offers a lifetime warranty on work they do, so if these seals start to leak in a year...its on them to replace them.

My questions is...what has to come off to do the crank seal? Does the water pump have to come off? If so, I will give them a new ASIAN pump to put back on. If not I'm going to let it ride since a new pump was put on at 135K.

Planning on giving them a new timing belt and exterior drive belts. I put on all new pulleys and a new fan bracket (false water pump) at 135K so I'm going to let those ride.

Anything else you would suggest that should be done at the same time?

Thermostate, Timing belt tensioner also crank pulley bolt. The dealer will install parts that you provide thats new cause out here they only use their own inventory.

1) I highly doubt it’s a lifetime warranty on work performed. More likely a 3-5 year warranty.
2) If you provide the parts then those parts may not be covered under the provided dealership warranty.

I’d recommend replacing the water pump, thermostat, fan clutch. If the radiator is original/unknown or discolored then replace that too. I’d rather pay a little extra now to replace the water pump than have to pay extra labor if it fails before the next timing belt service.

Honestly though I would remove the top timing cover to look at the timing belt condition before replacing it. If it looks good (not cracking, discolored, or frayed) then I wouldn’t worry about it.

Yup... I had a PO had a garage do their timing belt job on my 4 runner and didn't use a good water pump.. I sprung a bad leak and got to do the job before required. So while I was in there. I did the crankshaft and cam seals too. Dont skimp out on the timing belt job or you may have to do it again sooner then you think.

How much does a dealer charge for this job? That's got to be a small fortune. Do the job yourself and save a shit ton of money.
