Question regarding a '99 Limited front bumper ...

Still looking for a 3rd Gen and came across this ...

The part appears to be a "front bumper plate" and "front bumper clip". Any idea what this is, what it does and why it might be missing?

All it is is a swinging removable piece of plastic which hides to factory towing point. They break off very often.

Also, From what I can see, the DS fog lamp is missing, unless it's just the way the sun is hitting it.

I thought so too when looking at the picture, but I don't believe that's the case. I'll be verifying it though ...

I don't really agree with that the break off often... Mine didn't even come off when I nailed the far end of a ditch that I didn't have a good enough approach angle on...

Taking it off to clean it off was also a PAIN. I think it was probably removed for a reason. Towed, perhaps?

Anymore more pictures of the 4Runner for us to pick apart? =)

I broke mine off during a small off roading expedition. Screwed up the tabs and everything and also lost the darn thing so I called the stealership and they sold me one painted and ready to go for $36. Then I broke that one off but found it. Then got screws and screwed the mofo on there. Needless to say it won't be coming off again unless I take it off.
