I tried to search for this, but all I found was how to replace the power antenna...

I put in an aftermarket HU, so my antenna comes up whenever my deck is on.. rather than using the power antenna, has anyone used the rear window only? I would cut power to the front and not use it, but I don't see anyone that used the back one. I know it is diff size, is there an adapter or anything?

Also, if someone did post this, I am sorry. Reading all the posts kinda turned into one for me after reading for so long :)

It is my understanding that the car has two antenna, one in the front and one in the passenger rear window. The car picks the strongest signal and uses it. So I would think if you disconnect the power to the front antenna, the radio would figure out what is the strongest signal and go with that. The question is, can you live with the signal with the one antenna? For the answer, I would give it a try and see for yourself.

I have an Alpine and my antenna goes up when using the radio function but goes down when I use a CD;what don't you like about the front antenna?

My HU doesnt have a seperate power for antenna. So it always goes up when the deck is on. I would keep it if did what your deck does. But since it is always up, it breaks more often.

I currently dont have the rear antenna plugged in due to the different size, so I don't know if there is a quality loss.

I have a sony aftermarket deck. Whenever the unit is ON the antenna is up.

Is it possible to make the antenna stay down while listening to a cd?
