Questions about the FJ coil conversion and spacers

Just met the guy and picked up the coils, he puts the box of goodies in my car for me and I notice the front coils have the shocks still mounted in them. He said "Enjoy!!!" and wouldn't accept any money. He said they had been sitting in his garage forever and he was happy to see them go to me. Chalk another one up for why it is awesome to like cars and have boobs!!! These coils and shocks came off his 07 FJ at 26k miles. Should I go ahead and install the front FJ shocks with these coils? Wouldn't that mess up the shocks in the rear because those would still be a part of the XReas system and the ones in the front wouldn't be....

Haha. When replacing the XREAS, you must replace all at once. The shocks are linked together, right front to left rear and left front to right rear. I'd say do the coils only and keep XREAS for now, especially since you don't have the rear shocks. The two spacers you linked to are the ones people are using, it strictly depends on how much lift you'd like to have.

Here is what I got!!!

Which ones would you use if it were you with my set up?

No fair, I want boobs! :worthless: but then again I'd probably never stop touching myself.:naughty:

I missed how many miles you have on your T4R? If they are low I'd just do the coils with the 1/2" spacers and keep the xreas. When the xreas goes upgrade to the Bilsteins. Have the shocks checked for leaks before you do any work. If any 1 has a leak you'll have to replace all and you can save some bucks by replacing them at the same time as the spacer and coil install.

Approx 87k miles on the truck, so very possible XREAS is gonna be be problematic in the near future, but also a chance it won't. I'm just about to roll over 140k on mine, stock XREAS is still hanging in there.

There's too many conflicts for me to honestly make a clear decision. Based on my 4runner, I'd say 1/2". However, I have the OEM air bags in the rear and think my rear sits higher to start with. After doing the jack thing I mentioned earlier, 1.5" was my target. I've read where 2-3 different 2wd guys gained 1-1.5" of lift from just the springs, no spacer installed. The decision is fully based on how much lift the springs will provide, and quite honestly I have no answer for that. I'd lean towards the 1/4" because it will look better to a have some rake left than it would be to end up nose high. I still advise taking some measurements to see how much lower the front is to the rear and go from there. Those numbers will determine how much lift is needed to "level" it out.

I'd say if you got all 4, then replace all 4. You cannot do it halfway with the xreas. get the 1/2" spacer, put it on top of the strut and roll like a queen.
You'll love it.

Haha, def not going to post pics, I'll leave that part for your own imagination.

I'll take some measurements tomorrow and let you know the amount of rake diffrence there is

Did some before measurements:

Front Driver: 33 7/8" Front Pass: 33 3/4"
Rear Driver: 35 1/4" Rear Pass: 35 7/8"

So driverside there is a 1.375" rake and passenger side is 2.125" rake

My Gas tank is full, just filled it up last night. Anyone have an idea how much lift I will be getting if I add the FJ coils and 1/4" spacer or FJ coils with 1/2" spacer? I am just not sure which spacer to order, I keep getting different answers

No one will be able to tell you for certain which will be the best. It all comes down to how much lift the springs give you. I'd either do just springs and go from there (spacer is pretty easy to add later), or go with the 1/4" one to be safe. This setup SHOULD leave a little rake, which is what most go for. In the end, it's an unknown. Try to talk to as many of the 2wd guys as you can, they are the ones who can answer your question. All I can do is make suggestions based on the numbers they posted up, and according to those they're getting over 1" with the FJ springs, so another 1/2" (the 1/4" spacer) would finish leveling it off.

here are a few pics of mine before/after and with measurements on the
V6 2Wd 2004.
I'll say it again and again, get the 1/2" to go on the fj stuff and you'll be happier than prom night.

810moto I have a 07 v2 2wd sr5 and am looking to add a little lift to level it out. I currently am running BFG 265-75-16's on it and it looks a little off with no lift in the front. If I have around 400 to spend would fj springs and spacers be the best option or would 5100's etc?

Thanks

Jason

Since the 5100's are always on back order, if it were me, I would do the fj swap with the toytec 1/2" spacer. it's super easy to install in about 4-6 hours for the entire truck.

take a look at my post #32 and you can see the before and after looks of things + the measurements. it sits perfect and if you notice, lets say you go over a speed bump, the stock with come down pretty harsh. After the swap, is rolls over them perfectly and rides great.
Everyone has their own opinions but i think toyota should have put these on as a stock set up from the get go.
As long as you have some basic tools and a place to do the swap, it's a snap and it's cheaper and faster then waiting on some 5100's to get on someones shelf somewhere.

I didn't see any pics of the 1/4" spacer in here, so here is a pic of my v6 2wd when I had 1/4" spacers and FJ coils. I personally think it looks better than 1/2" because the running boards are still level and there is a tiny bit of rake.

ARK_SWAMP_RIDER well I only have a v6 so that is why I was wandering if it was lighter and if I would have more height up front because of that. Yea I know it will be cheaper but I am limited on my mechanical abilities so any one in dfw area that wants to work for cold refreshments and is willing to help that would be great.

There has to be guys in the DFW area that are willing to help out. I would suggest that once you get your supplies and are ready to go, make a new posting asking for some help and describe what you are doing and what you are offering. I have helped a few guys out on here doing lifts. We just pull in the garage and start working away.
