Quick stereo question (single to double DIN)

I put in a single DIN JVC stereo a couple years ago. Just got a double din. I bought the faceplate adapter but the stereo didn't come with any kind of support bracket. Is this a separate piece I'll need or should I be able to use whatever's supporting the single DIN inside (can't remember what I did for that one).

Thanks,

Most likely you put in an "adapter" to both support the single din differently and to change the aesthetics so there wasn't a giant hole. You should be able to take the adapter out and by the appropriate one for the double din that you're purchasing.

The single & double din

should use the same brackets on either side of the HU that hold it in place. Worst case is that youd need double din specific mounting brackets. Cheapest option could be a wrecking yard..

just find the stock radio brackets on ebay, when converting the original to a single din, the bracket is no longer needed, but if using a double din, the stock radio bracket is needed. you can pull this off by using 2 radio kits, the bestkit single din kit for the radio brackets, and the double din side pieces from you new kit.
