I'm not a fan of his movies but this man has a heart of gold (pun intended). Re-posting this piece I read from CNN:

Tales of Walker's philanthropy are not new. CNN confirmed one story from a decade ago when Walker noticed a young U.S. soldier shopping with his fiancee for a wedding ring in a Santa Barbara jewelry store.

"The groom was just back from duty in Iraq, and he was going to be deployed again soon and wanted to buy a wedding ring, but he said he just could not afford it," saleswoman Irene King told CNN. "I don't think the soldier realized how expensive those rings are, about $10,000."

The couple apparently did not know who Walker was, King said.

"Walker called the manager over and said, 'Put that girl's ring on my tab,'" she said. "Walker left all his billing info, and it was a done deal. The couple was stunned. She was thrilled and could not believe someone did this."

King called it "the most generous thing I have ever seen."

While I didn't know Paul Walker personally and only was somewhat familiar with his acting, it still does make me somewhat sad to hear of his passing. What makes me sadder is all of the judgment passed on someone that probably none of us knew personally. I know that I have had several incidents in my life where I pushed the limits on life. Fortunately for me, those incidents have fallen in my favor. Very easily could they have gone the other way. I'd also like to think that I am a pretty good person. We all make mistakes in life. Sometimes those mistakes cost us that very thing.

But since there has been so much armchair self-righteous speculation, even from a supposed expert, I thought this should be posted in this thread, as some small token of vindication for the memory of two defamed deceased men. May they both rest in peace.

According to accident investigators, the Porsche Carrera GT was traveling between 40-45 mph when the driver lost control. The speed limit on that road is 45 mph. There was an upcoming turn posted with an advisory speed of 15 mph, but the car crashed before it reached that turn.

The video you posted stated: "according to a law enforcement source..." It doesn't specify who the source is or what they do or how they were involved in the investigation. For someone so concerned with getting facts, maybe you should wait until the police dept or sheriff's office investigating the wreck has published their conclusions. As publicized as this story has become and with all the attention it's getting, those investigators are going to take their time and keep it quiet until they're done. I could reference this link to take away your "vindication" that you seem so set on getting by turning this into a personal attack on me but it's probably another lie from a witness that wants their 15 minutes.

Of course investigators are looking at every possibility, that's their job. The news never said that one of the investigators was their source. Do you think that was an accident? No, because the source wasn't one of the investigators. As far as my speculation, I guess time will tell.

You are speculating again. You don't know that for a fact.

Just for the record, the "vindication" is for the reputation of the deceased men. They were accused in this thread of all sorts of things: implying they were drunk, that they were recklessly speeding, etc., etc.

Instead, it's sounding like it was just a tragic accident.

But I'm done. This is after all a Memorial thread.

No one is defaming anyone. Just because we're suggesting that they were speeding beyond a safe speed doesn't mean that we're attacking the integrity of good people. Good people make bad decisions all the time, it doesn't mean that all of a sudden they are public enemy #1.

I can honestly say that I would prefer if none of this had ever happened. I wish I could do something to make this world a safer place and not have anyone hurt or killed ever again. But that's not the world we live in. I am absolutely tired of hearing about people getting killed because of their decisions. I am more sick and tired of hearing about innocent people getting hurt because of someone else's stupid decisions. I would say that probably weekly or at least once every other week I am hearing a story about how someone was hurt or killed because they were in the wrong place at the wrong time while someone else was doing something stupid. Last week one of my guys from work crashed his car because he was driving stupid. Lucky for him he was fine and he didn't hurt anyone but he easily could have. I hold absolutely zero sympathy for those who decide to endanger other peoples lives because they feel the need to be an idiot.

That's exactly what you did earlier in this thread. You assumed they were excessively speeding, and that they intentionally endangered lives around them.

Let me get this straight... He decided to endanger other people while him and his friend were driving like a jackass on the open road. May he rest in peace but I have no sympathy for him or his friend. I get tired of hearing how people (not just famous people) die and how it's so sad. Maybe they should have made better choices and not endanger themselves and put other people at risk while doing it. I'm a huge fan of natural selection and in my opinion, this is another fine example of natural selection at its finest.

Hopefully this is a lesson for others. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.

Your very first post in this thread (quoted above) is the definition of defamation.

A few people jumped to conclusions in this Memorial thread, and in doing so defamed two dead people. By all accounts they were good people, and if the investigating police department is to be believed, it sounds like they weren't doing anything wrong at the time of their untimely demise.

What horrible decision did they make? driving the speed limit down the road, and for some as yet unexplained reason lost control and crashed?

The investigating Police Department said they were driving between 40-45 mph, on a road with a 45 mph speed limit. They also mentioned an advisory speed limit of 15 mph for an upcoming turn, but the car crashed before it ever reached that turn.

So what actions were they taking that endangered other peoples lives?
