Also switched from BFG A/T to Herc M/T tires. Wheels are painted white now.


Switched to a LT 5125 11" shocks. Ditched the front Ome nitros & back to 5100s


Added a couple lights bars & lowered the roof basket a little.




The prototype Cruisinoffroad rear bumper is now a year old and took some beating along the way but still holding up without any issues. Well built!
 
Great build here! Like your setup for a adventurist off road exploring vehicle.

You'll definitely will be happier since you changed to M/T tires for sure.
Taking your advice on going to 886 coils.

Thanks guys, Mud tires definitely working out better (except for ice). We try to head out every month or two. It's nice to have a few friends with similar passion.
 
I've got a few questions about your suspension setup...

What valving did you go with on your rear Bilsteins, 255/70?

Did they bolt directly in? It seems the top and bottom mounts are bushings in the descriptions.

How much of a rear bump stop extension do you think I will need to run with a 33.5"-34" tire with a full 3" lift and 1.5" body lift assuming the tire hits the fender before the shock bottoms out? 1" or smaller?

I had 255/70 in 10" travel but found them too short. Ive been running 11.2" travel 355/80 since spring. Stem/eye are direct fit but you will have to replace the bushings to fit. Im running 4" bump stop drop to prevent them from bottoming out. 17/28" collapsed/extended.
With my old 10" shocks had a compressed length of 16" I only ran 3" bump stop drop. My 35" tire do not scrub the fender w/ 1.5" body lift. It will depend on which shock length, wheel offset you will go with. Up/downtravel is bang on with mine -6/-12 wheels and 1.5" wheel spacers.

 
My bilsteins were getting tired so I switched them up with OME sport 90000. Handles the weight better but they are definitely shorter. Bigger bumps and it bottoms out. I may run a top plate spacer since the droop is less now, more room for the balljoint & coils.

What you going to do with the billys? I just blew my drivers side, looking for a replacement til spring.

Thats sucks, theyre pretty tough. Just gonna keep it, it's not blown but I'm sure I'll find a use for em. This it the 3rd rig Ive installed em on.

Others I've talked to think it's because my stock springs aren't strong enough, which makes sense. I've never been impressed with them but if that's because of the springs then it makes sense. I'm going to get some radflo coilovers this spring, that should help tame my heavy 35's! Lol

Hey, Is that the aluminum RCI skid? I heard that you had to drop the tank to replace the skid but from your pic it doesn't look like it? I'll be replacing my rusted out tank skid with the RCI aluminum one shortly. Interestingly, your front skid design is different than mine, the bend is shallower, and the logo and vents are different. This year's model I guess.

Its possible. There's quite a bit of improvement with heavier coils. Im on 886 @ 660lb coil. Its the only set I havent been able to sag. My front end is quite heavy. The 5100s did put up a fight though. I've been thinking about the radflo's for a while but eventually, I may run the new bilstein 6112 coilovers but I think it wont be able to lift enough.

I need 650lb coils. I'd go 700 but I don't have a bumper yet. Even 600lb would help! Lol
I've heard really good things about radflo. I've wanted them for a while now.
Eventually I'm going to sas and run 14" or 16" radflo's in the front and rear. Will really be a monster then!

Steel. I didnt want to spend the extra $$ for aluminum and incase I break the steel skid (not likely), I have a mig welder I can patch it up with.
The gas tank wasnt touched at all. Direct fit. I dont know about the logo difference however. I had to flip the skid mounting bolt where it gets close to the driveshaft as the d-shaft flange was touching the excess treads.

I hear ya. Sas is definitely a good upgrade but way out of my price range. I would like to do a 6" bracket lift & 37's in the near future, I still trust the IFS muscle.

To give you an idea on the weight, I ran the 620lb toytec coils, it sagged an inch after one weekend of trail abuse. Those coils were a perfect match with 5100s however. It felt like an baller mid travel setup. OME is just a tougher cookie, I just wished they made the nitrocharger struts even 1/2" longer.

I've been contemplating 6", but I'm worried the different components can't handle the big tires. I've already broke my rear dif and a CV. But with 200k it could have been it's time too. Lol
Wow that's a lot of weight! I've been trying to keep mine as light as possible, which can't last forever. I want to regear before the weight so I don't lose more power. Vroom Vroom
