::RaceTRaCk's Build Thread::

I've been contemplating 6", but I'm worried the different components can't handle the big tires. I've already broke my rear dif and a CV. But with 200k it could have been it's time too. Lol
Wow that's a lot of weight! I've been trying to keep mine as light as possible, which can't last forever. I want to regear before the weight so I don't lose more power. Vroom Vroom

Oh dang. Thats unfortunate. Mines been pretty solid. Fingers crossed. I think a bracket lift could be easier on suspension and cv since the geometry would be closer to stock than a 3" lift. Although tires are heavier in 37s which strains the front diff and cv more but I'm confident it hold without too much skinny pedal on the rocks. But itll suck to lose some of that V8 powa.

Did you regear with those tires? If not, what's the gas mileage like? Also, sweet ride man!

Stock gears. No plans to re-gear really. Fuel mileage puts me around 5.5-7km/liter (combined) depending on how I drive. I live in a city with lots of hills.
Same mileage as my previous 4.0L tacoma 6sp with 35s although that does a tiny bit better on the highway.

Went for an overnight trip at Sloquet Hot springs in Pemberton, BC.

Built a mini drawer for all my tools. Half the size so I can still sleep in the cab.

Starting to get tired of the white stuff, I miss the dirt!

Love your build! I just got my 04, stock SR4, so I'm using yours as a guide. I plan on trying to do it right the first time.

How much total lift do you have? I only want to run 33's. Do you think 3" is enough to do that?

What are those rear lamps on the basket, and how are they wired up?

Also great looking rig. Jealous of the snow you guys have!

Thanks! 3" will be enough assuming the caster is set right and the wheel offset is not too crazy.
Mine has 3" front, 5" rear plus 1 1/2" bodylift. Very minor rub on the front depending on articulation but nothing to be worried about. I may push it to 3.5" front lift later on.

3" light pods w/ amber covers. Wired fed thru the tailgate channel area. Yeah we have tons of snow. Pretty much all the local trails are snowed in. Never seen it like this in recent years.

I don't know how I just now stumbled on this. Beautiful.

Looks like you welded in a hook on your ARB? Just to hold the winch hook, or load-bearing as well?

Hey, thanks a lot! The hook is just for the winch, it can't take any load. I find the stock tow hook too low and my winch hook gets snagged on big boulders.

More update, purchased some custom rear coils off a fellow member to carry the extra load. This things beefy. Supposed to be 800lb rates. No offroad trip yet but it damn handles the corners much much better! Perfect match to my 355/80 rate long travel shocks!

Made the allpro 3.5" coils look like they were stockers. Lifted 1.5" more than the previous spring+spacer combo

Well, the time came & sold the 4Runner. I enjoyed having the truck. It has been the best vehicle I've owned so far. It has taken me through some awesome road trips never had issues. BC, Alberta, Washington, Oregon, Nevada, Idaho, California & Arizona.

I'm gonna miss that V8 grunt!
