Racoon vs my 4Runner

We were up in Ouray for the weekend. After a day of hiking, rock hunting, and some swimming, we went back to the RV park to make some dinner. Apparently this little guy climbed into the 4Runner between shuttling loads into the trailer. I must have locked him in accidentally, and you can see his displeasure.... I figure he must have been in there for a good 8 hours. This ought to be a fun call to the insurance agent...

Yeah... we had to just chuckle. He chewed through some wires, but some quick splicing and we were back underway. Testament to the 4Runner's resilience.

I would have lost my goddamn mind if that happened to me. Best of luck getting your truck restored.

BTW, did you at least punt that little SOB a couple yards down field?

Geez. That's crazy. I think we had a mouse in our FJ near Silverton over Labor Day. Only damage was to a package of Reese's Peanut Butter Cups and some dog treats.

It looks like there might have been a bit of an odor left behind :repuke:

I must say, I'd be disappointed if you don't (re)name your rig "Ricky" now.

When I opened the door in the morning, the racoon walked out casually like nothing had happened. The headliner is done, he chewed through the carpet, some wiring will need to be replaced, rear door hatch seal is gone, rear window seal is gone, pee and poop EVERYWHERE. Spent the afternoon washing stuff in the Salida laundromat.

It sucks, but he was just being a racoon, and I didn't notice him when I locked up.

It's times like that where I wish life was a movie, because I bet the scene where he snuck in would have been funny to watch over and over again.

If the say the poop matches the seat color pretty well...you just discovered the new 2018 4Runner interior color: Raccoon Turd.

Good camping tip! Check for coons in the 4Runner before leaving camp. :)
