Anybody got a HAM radio in their 4Runner? I'd love to see some of the ways people put them in. I was thinking of putting one on the dash along the right side.

If you didn't have to have the glove box you could mount a radio there. I was getting interested in HAM because I would hardly hear anyone on a CB. But wasn't sure where to mount one. This is the first vehicle I've owned since the 70's without a CB. Had a Cobra 75 in it for awhile. I was thinking of making a mobile one for a full size CB in a toolbox or cooler that I could set in the seat when I didn't have a passenger. Have the antenna and power and ground ready to plug in. I saw one installed on the glove box door. Here:

I have several radios capable of ham operation. My main ham radio I have on my headliner. It is just the faceplate so it is really small (yaesu 8800r). The main body of the radio is under my dash.
I also have a commercial vhf (icom 521) on the left of my trans tunnel, and a CB on the right.

Icom IC-706 faceplate in the dash above the radio, mike wire run behind dash and dropped down on left tunnel where mic clip is at! Radio sits in the back mounted to the wall (I have an xtra cab truck, not a 4 runner).
Love my all band radio in the truck, but 20M is not ecu-friendly! Even at about 10 watts output, it will literally shut down the ecu and the truck will go completely dead until I get off the mic!
