Radio Delay 2016 TRDP

So I was in the garage working on the FJ and had some great jams going on the garage radio, a Canadian station 99.3 [emoji106] and noticed my phone was dying and my cord was in the 4R so I turned the key on and plugged my phone on. The radio kicked in and was on the same station so I left it going, surround sound [emoji7] Getting back to work I noticed they were not in sync. The 4R had a slight delay, sounded like shiat. WTF, I've had both going at other times with no issues, but it was the FJ. So I kicked on the Cruiser and it matched the radio. WTF right? Has any one else experienced this? Thinking maybe it is the Entune system causing the delay. Kind of interesting, kind of sucks, lol!

Mine is slightly delayed because it's technically recording so that it can be played back if you would like. Basically like a tv dvr

I've watched music videos on my phone while playing the music through entune and there definitely is a delay. Watching lips move and not match the lyrics drives me crazy.

It was most likely all those IPA's you drank, did you go to Kulshan before you started working on the FJ? A keg of double IPA makes me delayed too! :moon:

I've noticed something similar, I also get a distinct difference when it switches to HD radio and sometimes randomly reboots.

If this is the Entune system on a 14+, then I know exactly what is going on...

When the 14+ Entune system plays FM Radio, it records it first. This is why you can "pause" live FM Radio broadcasts on this system. I can honestly say that I have only used this setup a handful of times. That was just to see how cool it was.

Unfortunately, they do not offer this same feature on XM Radio...

This is a separate issue from the radio delay. This has more to do with the transfer of data between the phone and the head unit. The only way I have found to get around this (because my kid watches movies on my iPad in the back seat) is to run an analog audio line from the remote device to the head unit.

You can turn off the radio recording FYI, I never use it so I leave it off

also, does the FJ have HD radio? I'm wondering if there could also be a delay between the regular and HD broadcasts

I just noticed this a while ago. I'm using a local FM to broadcast music that syncs to my Christmas light display. I was using a handheld FM radio to test it out. I thought let me see how it sounds from the 4Runner.

When I had both on the 4Runner was delayed. Now I know why.
