Radio reception issues after light bar and dashcam mods

Hey Guys,

So i recently installed a few Christmas presents i got including a 20" light bar with an OEM looking button next to the steering wheel.

I also installed a dash-cam by running the wires inside the headliner and then down the inside of the pillar to the fuse box under the steering wheel.

Can anybody tell me why one of these two mods might have had an effect on my radio reception? Is the extra juice im using to power the dash-cam making my radio reception weaker? Interference from the wires?

Any thoughts guys?

I get static when I turn on my ditch lights. Sorry that's all I got... maybe someone like Rigtec or 1Engineer can help?

Maybe a loose ground? Or weak chassis ground?

I'd start by disconnecting one and then the other with the first reconnected to try to isolate which one, both or neither is the culprit - then go from there.

run a new dedicated power and ground to your accessories, one or both are noisy

Couple things-

Where did you tap into for the hardwiring of your dashcam? If it's on a separate circuit from the radio fuse you can rule that out.

Secondly, a lot of these USB to 12V cords are notorious for radio interference from the wires on account from no UL ratings (coming direct from China). Try disconnecting it and seeing if your problem goes away.

Basic Electrical Theory. Apply Current through a Conductor, create electromagnetic field.

Depending on how your routed the wiring, current draw, type of wires used, if they are shielded/braided/constructed in a specific way/ect. they could cause interference.

Is the interference only when the dash cam/LED turned on or just from them being there?

just make sure to select the right size. I just tossed in the first amazon link, and these items need to be sized to fit the cord they will go onto.
