Rain Gaurds

Jw Anyone know of a website selling quality rain guards that arent 70 bucks? lil much for just some pastic. :redbrick:

You must be talking about Weathertech. They charge around $75 for just the set of fronts! I agree that is pretty high priced plastic!

Check out other brands like Auto Ventshade (AVS), EGR, or Putco.
I have not used any of them so I cannot recommend one over the other.

If you purchase, let us know how it works out.
 
I hate mine. They take up 1/2 the space the window is supposed to roll up into. They screw up the edges of the tint.

Big problem is they are taped/glued to the window seals and I need new seals to remove them!
 
I second the Auto VentShades (AVS). I have the in channel visors on my 4runner and the stick on ones for my Z71. Have had the ones on the Z71 for almost 10 years.

I think I paid $40 on eBay for the ones on my 4Runner.

i got mine off ebay for around $40. i like them cause they dont touch the window, they simply stick on the outside. had them on for 3? years now and have had no problems.
 
I got the tape on ones from e-nay I am pretty happy with them, not too big on the window and they are NOT in-channle so it doesn't mess with teh window, morotr or tints. Ther only thing is the front's didn't fit as tight as I hoped around the rear view mirris, just got some window insulation tape from home depot, trimmed and inserted accordingly. If you buy them off ebay and want som help just PM me and I'll take some pics. $30.00 on e-bay for all four windows!!
 
Here are the ones I got on the Runner. You can see where I McGiver'd some weatherstripping to seal.

IMO def worth the savings, what I did was fold the weatherstripping over itself so the adhesive side was on both the door and rain guard, also made it thicker and less porous increasing it's ability to withstand weather and high winds.
 
Could you just take a heat gun and form that bottom piece closer? That would fix the add the weatherstripping issue.

Anyway it was just an idea i had. Do you have any close side shots of them? I've been thinking about them for my 4runner too. The ones on my explorer faded and cracked after a few years and i think they were auto vent shade.

X2. This is actually exactly what I did for the parts that were sticking out. Just heat enough to soften then use a cotton t shirt to apply pressure (keep it moving).

Heck, you're supposed to use a heat gun slightly all over to help the stick anyway.
