Rancho QuickLift ????

Hello. First post here from the Bay Area CA. I own a '2000 LTD 4WD w/77k mi.

Has anyone had the Rancho QuickLift shocks installed on their rig? Results? If So did you use them on front and rear? Or, did you use the QuickLifts on front and the Rancho 9000XL's on the rear?

What I am trying to accomplish is a 1-2" lift. Currently I have no sagging. I installed a new set of tires that are 5mm taller than stock. When I turn hard left I get just a slight wheelwell rub. I could just cut out the plastic in the wheelwell an that would do the trick. But think it would make the look of my rig way better with the lift (yes if these are my biggest problems life must be okay).

I don't want to just use spacers. I was quoted 695.00 plus tax installed for the QuikLIFT FRONT 9000XL Rear. Are full on "lift kits" more expensive? Worth it if so? Reliable?

No one makes a "full on true lift kit" for the 4runners. Since the taco's and 4runners have the same front end, you can take a 4" taco bracket lift and use the front kit on the front of your truck and use land cruiser springs and shocks in the rear to get a true 4" lift while keeping factory angles on everything. Other than that, you will be using spacers or adjustable coil overs. You can use TRD tundra stock shocks and springs in the front for a couple inches of lift and spacers or longer springs in the rear. It just depends on how much money you have and what you want to achieve. There are quite a few options out there but if you are resourceful enough, you can get a good lift for cheap. I found a used taco front end with a 4" front kit on it and picked it up for $150 and a set of land cruiser springs and shocks for my rear for $60. I did the install myself so I only have $210 invested in a full 4" kit

Excellent info. If I keep it another 5+ years the 4" route is the way I will go. The way you did yours sounds like the proper route, with Toyota specific parts, which gives you factory angles in the end result.

Currently my truck is a daily-ish driver, at 7k mi a year, with 99.99% on city streets and the 10(+ -) trips to The Sierra in the fresh powder each winter. Right now I don't think my wife would appreciate a 4" lift. (she thinks the 265 75 16 Yokohamas make it look like a monster truck!!) So I think I'm going to pull the trigger and do the Rancho QuickLift coilover route for the 1-2" lift.

Unfortunately, I am not as resourceful. No way would I be able to install any suspension items by myself. Yeah, I could probably find the parts, but then I would have no idea if they were still any good. For me I have to rely on my tech to do the work.
 
OME (ARB/ Old Man Emu) makes a full lift kit...around $700 for front and rear with new shocks and springs

Sonoran Steel makes a variety of lifts depepnding on budget and level of build

ToyTech has a couple different lift options out there based on Budget and level of build also.

Otherwise a nice adjustable coilover up front with just the amount of lift you are looking for is a good option, and there are about 6 different manufacturers for those but on Toyotas the best bang for buck IMO is the Bilstein 0"-3.5" of lift for around $699. Not sure why was mentioned that noone has a full on kit.
 
I mentioned no one has a TRUE lift kit meaning drop brackets because he said in his first post he didnt want a spacer lift. Coil overs to me are about the same function wise as a spacer lift. A bracket lift keeps factory angles thus taking added stressoff of joints and whatnot
 
Coil overs are nothing close to a spacer lift. You end up with a higher quality shock and it can fully adjustable from 0-3" so to gain the 1/2" he is looking for it would be perfent then later on should he want to lift even more he already has in place. I dont like bracket lifts for a few reasons. Most of the time you need to cut your frame to get the diff to drop down and while it does keep gentler angles on the drive line you have cause irreversible damage to the frame. The other bracket lifts that do not recquire cutting of the frame only relocates the lower A-arm and since orginal drive train location is the same you still end up with the higher CV angles and stress. You also don't get the ground clearance gain. There are pros and cons to all systems but a coil over lift is not a spacer lift and to discount it and say it is not a true lift is incorrect.
 
Im not at all discounting coil over lifts. I have used them and like them. Im saying they are like spacer lifts as they do the same thing by loading the coil spring to provide more lift while also putting larger angles on joints. They are of higher quality than just a spacer so thats a big reason why they are better. I agree there are pro's and con's to all lifts. Its all just what you want out of a lift kit
 
thats why a good coil over set up will have separate adjustments for height and spring load. I haven't seen anything like this for the 4runner though. I'm sure something custom could be built though.

In your ultimate lift kit, how come how dont have the Bilstein 5125 shocks for the rear as an option??

The shock is a softer valving shock than the others, so we have found it works great for offroading. We have an employee that ran those on his 4runner, until he got rid of it.

Had the Rancho Quicklift installed on front and the Rancho 9000xl on rear. There is about a three quarter inch difference between front and rear height, with front being higher. Truck rides with no difference as of yet. Looks good and best of all the tires no longer rub at any point.

Umm.......why exactly is the rear that low??
 
I didn't know why either. Called my tech. He said each strut/shock is adjustable. Dialed the fronts down 3 clicks, then drove around the block (the rears are dialed all the way up). Measured and all four are 361/2" from concrete to top of fender at center of wheel.

They did use spacers on the rear. The measurements are all within 1/32". I can re-measure and give the exact height of each wheel well. But, I call up to 1/16" "slap tolerance and if it is within that, it's all the same to me.
 
just so you know the adjustments on the shock are not lift height, they are for the stiffness of the shock. I would recommend going 7 on the front and 5 on the back as a starting point. Adjust from there to your liking.
 
resurrecting an old thread..

am a lil confused how to adjust this unit....i see numbers 1,3,5,7,9
I tried adjusting the knob from end to end, but I didn't see any difference/change in hieght.
attached is a pic...hoping some1 can point me in the right direction
