Random radiator/body lift question

Hey doods,
My 86 4runner dlx auto has about a 3" body lift on it (unfortunately)... Radiator is falling apart so I'm replacing it, but PO mounted the old one to metal brackets that lower it a few inches. Does the radiator have to be at a certain level? With the body lift wouldn't it be mounted higher than the engine if it was mounted into the body mounts? I'd prefer to mount to the original mounts for stability, but maybe the brackets are the only option.

This is me assuming that with the body lift the engine stays mounted to the frame.

Not much experience with lifts but id say you could put the radiator wherever it'll fit up there but keep in mind your hoses probably won't match up.

The brackets bring the radiator back down so the fan still fits in the fan shroud.

oh right. i guess you could take the bottom half off the shroud?

It shroud really be there to help the fan make full use of the surface area of the radiator.

If you dont sit in traffic a lot and/or live in a colder climate, you could probably get by with a 1/2 shroud, or no shroud. But *they* say it should be there.

Or just use the brackets and not worry about it.

Got it swapped out no sweat. The brackets weren't an issue at all. The PO just connected them up like an idiot. It also didn't help that the old radiator looked like this: (not sure why the photo is upside down)
